Anthony could’ve just recorded two podcasts a week (one free, one paid on patreon) and charged $5. He’d be making easy money and saving hundreds of thousands of dollars on NY studios, equipment, loser “producers” and terrible hosts.

Then his only worries would be paying his brothers allowance and any future domestic abuse charges

I thought Keith did Ant's laundry
1 zoogie778 2018-10-08
That's Keith's wife I think
1 Kenn_Kennerson 2018-10-08
I will never understand being young with a full NYPD pension and having your wife fold the Count's underwear. Its unseemly

he subjects her to this chore for his own sexual pleasure

You think that yacht puts gas in itself?
1 deep_legal_shit 2018-10-08
if he's actually doing this and he ends up getting away with it, you got to hand it to him it's a pretty solid bit
1 Lasagna_Hat 2018-10-08
That moron is too dumb to launder money.
1 Hanarable 2018-10-08
Oh it wasn’t his idea. Keith made the decision for him just like all his other big boy decisions.
1 Kurt_Love 2018-10-08
I'd be shocked if Keith doesn't have power of attorney. Nana is too much of a pussy to say no.
1 enzo_trash 2018-10-08
why thats highly illegal
1 TurningFrogsGay 2018-10-08
Am I wrong or can he launder dirty money with or without a humiliatingly ineffective business model?
1 db111 2018-10-08
How much could that place be making as a for-profit soundstage, editing suite, recording studio, and rehearsal space in midtown Manhattan?
1 late_50s_why 2018-10-08
Don't worry cm media is already making way more money than sxm
1 MarbleSpaceDog 2018-10-08
Who the fuck is Anthony?
1 Uboat1940 2018-10-08
Apart from Norton and a few other loyal comedian friends, he still would have been hard pressed to get any quality guests.
1 gunstore 2018-10-08
What difference does that make?
1 rodneymunch87 2018-10-08
You subscribe anyway.
1 Brick_Bickerson 2018-10-08
No one subscribes.
1 Kenn_Kennerson 2018-10-08
a FREE podcast always has higher numbers, so he would be able to do ad reads for sleep apnea machines and boner pills
1 Jungies 2018-10-08
The problem with that is, Keith wouldn't get paid.
1 KenFrezno 2018-10-08
The irony is the money would be rolling in a hundred-fold by this point. Free shows + ad revenue would have actually made him pretty strong for at least the first few years. There's absolutely nothing so crazy said that he couldn't have right wing/NRA/nerdtech sponsors.
As it's been pointed out multiple times, he truly is a negro at heart and doesn't even realize how much sirius baby sat him.
1 sanfrancisco69er 2018-10-08
He also had Legion of Skanks and Gavin McGuinness completely in his corner when he first started. Two ambitious and popular podcasters plus all of the newly leftover OnA fans could have led to something OnA magnitude but with him on top of it. Instead he didnt really embrace their input an stuck with his own stupid paywall model, and let Keith deal with them which of course led to a quick end and immediate death to the chances of Compound Media to ever be anything more than a sad podcast of a man trying to prove to the haters his life isnt over, when he knows it is
1 JeremyACrosby 2018-10-08
Cumtown makes 40,000/month on Patreon donations alone, all they use is a recorder and a couple mics and do it from one of their apartments. I hope one of the felons Keith wrongfully arrested and accused gets released and shoots him to death in the street.
1 YourOldPalHoward 2018-10-08
Chapo Trap House makes $100,000 a month lol
1 TrievelGoesSouth 2018-10-08
I never found that surprising. They appeal to the mob, the lowest common denominator. And the mob has a lot of money; there’s so many of them.
1 halfwholediminished 2018-10-08
there's a beautiful irony of a podcast that gets rich while talking about the evils of capitalism
1 ArkL 2018-10-08
I mean in a strict Marxist sense they're being paid fairly for the fruits of their labor. That's all Marxists really want so......
1 enzo_trash 2018-10-08
you can take that commie gobilty gook else were fella
1 halfwholediminished 2018-10-08

1 ArkL 2018-10-08
well to get their ya gotta abolish private property and liquidate bankers and such. All fun stuff that should happen.
1 halfwholediminished 2018-10-08
yeah what could ever go wrong? keep fighting comrade!
1 Ants_Oily_Hair 2018-10-08
How do u propose that. the govt just takes your home and gives it away?
1 YourOldPalHoward 2018-10-08
lol get a load of this rube who doesn’t know the difference between personal and private property
1 Ants_Oily_Hair 2018-10-08
So explain, einstein. Dont be a cunt. 5 bucks says your a kike.
1 TheElDan 2018-10-08
Yeah $100K a month for sitting on your ass and talking is very fair pay.
1 ArkL 2018-10-08
it's not? they're not exploiting anyone. They're not forcing people to listen. As long as they aren't fucking anyone over I don't see why it matters how much they make. The money they make hasn't changed their ideals from when they were making 2k a month to over 100k now. They still have the same positions.
1 HugofDeath 2018-10-08
How is this anything close to Marxist though? it seems like capitalism 101 to me, the market is determining the value of their output, and indifferently to how much actual “work” they’re doing. Wouldn’t Marx be livid that they’re making so much for themselves without distributing it evenly amongst the bourgeoisie or something?
1 ArkL 2018-10-08
What I am getting at is that despite how much money they make, their ideals have not changed and they aren't making their money by hurting others aka hedge fund managers and payday loan people. Marx probably wouldn't be livid because A) they are advancing far left ideas and B) it would be a little hypocritical of him since Engels owned a fabric factory and his money helped advance their ideas.
1 KaplerStinks 2018-10-08
This is like people asking why do libertarians eat steak that's been inspected by the government?
People can live and thrive in a system and want something else.
1 halfwholediminished 2018-10-08
You're literally making an argument for free-market capitalism.
1 ArkL 2018-10-08
Except free market capitalism is such a fucking myth in this country and in others. Always backroom dealings and find me any major company that doesn't fuck someone over. The whole system is rotten.
1 crazymuffin147 2018-10-08
That's literally what you've just done
1 LiberalPussy 2018-10-08
Take your fag culture nonsense somewhere else.
1 halfwholediminished 2018-10-08
I see you've been sharpening up your chapo talking points :)
There is actually, a difference. Crony capitalism is the collusion of business and state. "free-market" capitalism is businesses competing against each other on the market. You want the latter, not the former!
1 ArkL 2018-10-08
I don't want private business so I want neither.
1 halfwholediminished 2018-10-08
the podcast you listen to is a private business...
1 halfwholediminished 2018-10-08
what an insane statement
1 YourOldPalHoward 2018-10-08
always cool to see another far-left user in this place. We’re a pretty interesting demographic if I do say so myself
1 dicksuckinslasher 2018-10-08
In the marxists sense, other marxists would get jealous of them and rat them out for being against the party or making a problematic joke and have then shipped off to a gulag.
1 DickSlit 2018-10-08
Piece of shit pinko.
1 YourOldPalHoward 2018-10-08
actually they mostly got rich from making fun of liberals
1 LouieBeanz 2018-10-08
Hey thanks u/gunstore, I'm sure everybody will fucking listen to you.
1 illydelph 2018-10-08
It was funny watching Joe Rogan explain all of the ways Anthony is doing it wrong to Anthony's face. He really broke down how easy it should have been to pivot his huge existing O&A fanbase into something even bigger than Rogan himself has, but he's fucking it up by putting it completely behind a paywall. Anthony listened...and then raised all his rates within a month of filming that episode of JRE.
1 fawwkyeah 2018-10-08
He doesn’t care about making a product that has actual long lasting value, he wants to scam the retarded fans he has left for their cash and drink bud lite every night
1 LetnigFeceOfBags 2018-10-08
Sadly, I think you're spot on, sir. What a complete waste, honestly. And there's no goddamn way that fuck head Keith isn't embezzalling $ from Ant even if it's not significant amounts. He can see just as clearly as the rest of us that Ant has given up on any and all hope of redeeming his career and quite a bit has to do with the garbage that Keith force fed him in his alcoholic depressive haze immediately following his firing instead of listening to someone like Rogan who was/is balls deep in success. However, in life, in the end we're all responsible for our own downfall. It's a goddamn shame that a talentless hack like Keith 'runs the show' and will eventually help to run it into the ground.
1 sanfrancisco69er 2018-10-08
There are comedians doing one-a-week interview style free podcasts that get guests from Aaron Rodgers to David Letterman, and gets z-listers every day without a single mildly larger name EVER. He has to be doing everything completely wrong
1 Kenn_Kennerson 2018-10-08
The racism and domestic violence arrest are a bit tricky
1 sanfrancisco69er 2018-10-08
Yeah that gets in the way, but like I forgot to mention too, being a national radio host and interviewing a-listers for 15 years should at least put him on close to the same playing a field as some 30 year old that has access to the comedy store tuesday afternoons
1 Frequent2001 2018-10-08
he should definitely put out free content on youtube, like maybe make the TACS show free, im sure that would give his network more exposure, try to get new people to listen.. personally i can't picture the type of people who would actually pay for this crap, cost more money than netflix
1 Kenn_Kennerson 2018-10-08
At this point? He has been behind a paywall 4 years
1 ShadowbannedKeithM 2018-10-08
But he can't even make one now that's entertaining?
1 TheUltimateAssEater 2018-10-08
How else would he keep his “friends” around him though?
1 SpitItoutSocrates 2018-10-08
Anthony could've just shot himself in 2014 and saved himself the misery.
1 00110001liar 2018-10-08
I'd pay per view to watch this
1 TheDirtyWolfman 2018-10-08
DiPaolo is making a killing talking about politics and throwing in the odd joke in his basement. No fuss, no guests, no contracts, no studio, no subscription fees. 2 for free every week and 2 more for patreon. It's that simple
1 plasticpaddy84 2018-10-08
Just looked, he's probably making $5-$10k per month just for chatting shit at home for a few hours. What a hero
1 TheDirtyWolfman 2018-10-08
Perhaps more than that. He has a lot of patrons donating $50 per month. I'd says he's taking home a comfy £100-150k per year from it, when you take into account merchandise sales and extra tickets.
1 chulathedog 2018-10-08
Other than he thinks is 1974 and Italians are cool and interesting people, not basically niggers.
1 BudzMcGee 2018-10-08
And I still wouldn't listen to the free one
1 Monotoned 2018-10-08
Ant never saved his money like Ope did, so the second he was out of a job he went, "How do I pay all my BILLS?!", panicked and then dropped a show the next month behind a paywall. There was no thought, just a panicking old man that never prepared for the future beyond putting some equipment in his basement. He made some quick early money, but none that lasted like a free pod would've.
1 tunisianknifer 2018-10-08
Its called "nigger rich" sir
1 Mr-B0jangles 2018-10-08
But he’s still hilarious and has over 100,000 subscribers... why would he fix what isn’t broken?
1 BP-47 2018-10-08
I get the impression that Ant hates commuting into the city to do TACS and that will wear him down. With the largely shitty no-name guests they get (and Morton not bothering to come in very often), he might as well do it from his basement again. At the very least, CM should be putting a lot more stuff on YouTube to encourage subscribers. With those jacked up prices, I can't see their subs getting bigger, especially after the great fuck-up of the new site and RSS feeds. An incompetent ex-cop would know more about that stuff though.
1 MadDog1981 2018-10-08
Here's the thing. It would have taken years to build a free podcast and built up money on Patreon. It would have required thought and patience. Two qualities which Ant doesn't have. They went for the early cash in and it blew up in their faces.
Ant is dumb. If Opie is getting to keep any piece of the advertising from his podcast, he's probably making more off of a free podcast than Ant is on his paid media network.
1 ScottSummersOmegaLVL 2018-10-08
In another reality I like to imagine Artie got sober and lost 100lbs and so did Anthony after his firing and they are just like Bennington. They never trash their old friends and coworkers and they are actually funnier sober. Artie never grew into bulbasaur and Anthony never sent an iPad to a small child, why? Because they did the right thing. They got sober and they never ratted on their friends. Artie could cut the garlic so thin with a razor blade that it would just dissolve in the pan with a little bit of oil. It was a verrryy good method
1 deathbunny32 2018-10-08
Literally all he had to do to keep viewership was have 1 free podcast a week. Entice people to actually want to give money to listen to him more often. Walling everything off under a paywall just makes it easier to find other things to listen to and to eventually forget about him in the long run.
