I was never really a fan of Opie but I never really hated him either. I was always indifferent to him and never saw him as an integral part of the show. That is until I saw Nana spiral out of control when he was left all alone and how awful the Sam & Jim show became when there was no one to do actual interviews. Op brought in the great guests, he asked the questions we all wanted answers for, he kept it moving when nana would get stuck in a racist rant or when he drooled over lil kids. He kept Jim in check when he would get all fanboy and flopsweat on them. Opie was the linchpin that kept it all together.
