The awkwardness was legit with Spuds but its pretend with Chip. Opie understood it was awful and let himself get smashed over it, getting righteously angry and legit loathed himself for his faults in that bit, unlike Chips good naturedly "rude" or self reflective insulting comments about Jim Norton. Opie got upset for resorting to doing a douchy hacky embarrassing character from years before and, despite being on FM instead of satellite at the time, told a caller to take "a big black cock up the ass" when they condescended to him and tried to stroke his ego, whereas Jim will go to war with Opie, the suits, and his own fucking livelihood for the chance to retreat into his stale one-note characters like Uncle Paul and Chippah.

Opie is funny. Jim sucks.
