Jim "I haven't seen it" Norton
254 2018-09-18 by ballpitpredator
I can't believe how i have to hear this every time a celebrity comes in.
Jim works for 3 hours 4 days a week and he can't even be bothered to see one movie or listen to one album before he has a guest on.
This isn't some new behavior either, go back to about a decade old clip and he still hasn't seen Hangover even though he's interviewed half the cast by now.
Why is he so obsessed with celebrities when its clear he doesn't care about anything they actually do? He just loves the idea of Fame without creating anything. that's why all his own independent ventures have been failures. Jim just wants to wake up as a princess one day.

It's all about his needs. What Jim really didn't see, for years is funny or his balls.

I see he has his kike star
1 Vulgah 2018-09-18
Wrong thread buddy
1 lolercakesmcgee 2018-09-18
It’s just the whole zero effort put into the show. This is reflected in their inability to get meaningful guests, review any of the materials of the guests they actually get, or show up more than five minutes before the show starts.
1 fawwkyeah 2018-09-18
Jim probably heard Ozzy or Gene or another one of his childish idols say something "I don't check out other artists stuff" and he's now made that his outlook on life
1 Ifuckmymomanddad 2018-09-18
He doesn't watch other comedy because he doesn't wants to be "influenced" by them. And rightfully so because the few things he did see he just stole and adopted.
1 RapistWithHIV 2018-09-18
He probably got his dead mom fetish from Ozzy too.
1 sanhozay1 2018-09-18
I once saw a photo of Johnny Rotten wearing a shirt that said Pink Floyd Sucks” and decided that they did in fact suck despite not having listened to them.
1 sanhozay1 2018-09-18
Nice pointless story, stupid
1 El_Heato 2018-09-18
I scrubbed through most of today's show and it really seems like either they know it's over and are just phoning it in or they have said yes to the low ball offer and will "produce" the show accordingly.
1 BoardroomBimmy 2018-09-18
Why should Jim be expected to watch stuff, listen to stuff or know things? You act like he has a job in broadcast radio or something.
1 Yakovpiscopo 2018-09-18
I thought this post was about the respect and admiration of his parents
1 Wolosocu 2018-09-18
Jim thinks it makes him sound edgy. In reality the "I've never seen/heard of" act just makes him seem like a douche.
1 Single_Action_Army 2018-09-18
I used to think not giving a shit was cool, but then I turned 18.
1 AnferneeCumiyayuh 2018-09-18
After the old show broke up, he really got exposed as being at best a complimentary piece. He never stepped up when given the opportunity to be the star. O&J failed and so did J&S.
1 DickPunchOpie 2018-09-18
Here he could have picked up the pace and made it his own show with a bit of work. But he had over a decade of rolling in 5 minutes late and being spoon fed material while sitting across from someone he had actual chemistry with. But hey man, that notification on his phone won't be there in 45 minutes when they go to commercial.
1 kusanagisan 2018-09-18
Pretty much everyone in the OandAverse is like this. It was a good show for a number of years because everyone's dysfunction clicked in a weird way, but once it broke up everything involved just ended up a shitfest.
That's one of the most amazing things about all this, looking back. TACS, O&J, J&S, and even Opie's afternoon show had the potential to be good shows (at least in the beginning) if they were just willing to put in the work to make them something unique and not try to coast by on the old O&A formula.
Nana gets fired, had a huge following at the time and an amazing support network - Ronnie B even said on the first show he was on after Nana's firing that he had the potential to be a conservative version of Jon Stewart. A lot of the comedians who were friends with Nana have at least somewhat successful podcasts...and what does Nana do with all this expertise and available advice at his fingertips? Decides to put a shitty podcast behind a paywall - Rogan was shocked he could be that fucking stupid. And the biggest draw that got people interested was throwing Opie under the bus with the Greggshells segment. Thank god Ronnie was smart enough to not sign on with the dumpster fire that is TACS.
Jim turns from one of the funniest, sharpest people in radio to the exact person he would have hated. Old listeners know it's Jim's desperate last attempt to gain at least some form of relevance or fame in today's world. The old Jim would have mercilessly ripped into the wishy-washy faggot he's turned into. Can you imagine how bad Patrice would deconstruct him if he was still alive today?
Opie fucked up monumentally with the Roland thing, but he's probably the happiest out of all three of them doing his pop-up shows and with all the time he spends at the beach. He's still delusional but the projects he does just doesn't reek of the desperation that everything Nana and the Worm do.
Sam was perfect as a shit-stirrer but he isn't a fit for the type of broadcast he's doing. Honestly, he'd probably be a lot happier and have a better show if he got moved over to Fight Nation.
Any potential the new shows may have had was completely wasted because everyone involved is just a self-sabotaging piece of shit.
1 RapistWithHIV 2018-09-18
I must object. Jim was never that clever. He has a repertoire of like 50 jokes & it's not hard to be 'lightning fast' when you're just regurgitating the same thing over & over.
1 kusanagisan 2018-09-18
Eh, my view on it is probably biased by the ease of looking up old show bits on Youtube and not having to slog through day-to-day.
Jim was always best as a reactionary comic that played off other people, and that didn't translate too well to his standup, which I've always kind of found to be "meh." A lot of his material is just pretty much verbatim stuff he would say on the show. In that context it could be hilarious, but when you do it in a standup act it turns the whole thing into a "you had to be there" moment.
That's also one of the reasons the Chip cartoon was hot garbage. Chip is best used in small doses in a conversation to completely derail whatever the subject is - even if Jim didn't collect $60k, that cartoon was never going to go anywhere because you'd blow your wad on every idea you ever had for it in the first two or three episodes.
What sucks is that he could be better and he has been better. Whenever he would get into it with guests or callers on OandA, or when he was pissed off, he really knew how to construct a rant that was entertaining to listen to. Now when you listen to him, you can tell he just doesn't give a shit on that level anymore. It's just lazy and uninspiring and Jim's been phoning it in for so long that I doubt he'd be able to go back to that even if he tried to at this point.
I remember hearing on one of the memorial shows how Chris Rock would lecture Patrice to try to get him to see that the comedic world was his for the taking if he just reached out for it. Patrice didn't give two fucks and he still wouldn't give two fucks if he was alive today.
If Jim wanted it years ago, he could have taken it, pretty much at any point up until the Chip cartoon bombed.
It's like putting something positive off because you'll get around to doing it later and then you suddenly realize you lost your chance.
Jim knows that boat sailed and it's eating him inside. Now he's stuck begging to be included in all his friends' projects and that's all he's ever going to be.
1 Don_Panera 2018-09-18
Jim has seen only the following movies: One flew over the cuckoo’s nest The Shining Goodfellas Righteous Kill Jaws Smokey & The Bandit Death Wish

It would probably depress him to see others succeed so he'd rather jerk it to trannies to numb himself.
1 jsnoots 2018-09-18
Ron will read someone's book (in a day) so he can be informed, ask interesting/appropriate questions and help them promote whatever they are pushing.
Jim flaps his arms and asks retarded questions about your dead parent.
I think we can see why Jim is terrible with every guest.
1 srb9586 2018-09-18
Ron can annoy me with his white guilt and hipster take on anything to do with music but one thing you can't say about him is that he doesn't research even the most modest of projects someone is promoting and he makes it interesting to listen to. Today he had some bitch promoting the new Gilda Radner film and he asked her what she thought of all the shitty things Gene Wilder said about Gilda in his book. The woman was completely thrown off and didn't know how to answer so he moved on, but said that always bothered him. with that simple move, he not only established credibility to his audience, but he was also respectful of the guest. Two HUGE things Jim has never been able to do. (Examples: so your mom died, Jesse Ventura, and countless others) Jim desperately wants to be a respected interviewer, but the biggest clip of his show is him and his alien looking co-host basically ambushing a guest (Nancy grace) Sorry for the diatribe, but Jim just really looks like an asshole compared with any interviewer.
1 El_Heato 2018-09-18
Ron has never done the "white guilt" thing. Please give an example.
1 BoatHack2 2018-09-18
In this sub, anyone who doesn't loudly scream the N-word is suffering from white guilt.
1 srb9586 2018-09-18
White people are so scared...of black people
1 ManbadFerrara 2018-09-18
I doubt that drop was intended as a serious condemnation of racism to protest Dave making unborn Baby Sambo jokes to Earl and whatnot.
1 MadDog1981 2018-09-18
That drop was there to actually encourage people to make racist comments.
1 AiCPearlJam 2018-09-18
He doesn't do any white guilt stuff but he does put a ton of trust in the government actually working for their own citizens and preaches hard left narratives. Still love his show regardless.
1 ThatNiggaDre 2018-09-18
I love Ron but he absolutely has, he wants to be like an old cool jazz guy that wants young black people to like him, like Bernie Sanders
1 El_Heato 2018-09-18
"wants young black people to like him"? I just don't get where that sentiment comes from. Is it like the other poster said, that if he isn't screaming fuck niggers everyday he's wanting black people to like him? He's from Philly lived in Miami and NYC. I'm sure he has had enough experience with blacks to have his own opinions on them.
1 ThatNiggaDre 2018-09-18
It's a false comparison to say hes not full pf white guilt just because hes not screaming Fuck niggers. That's such a retard's argument. Also he lived in an all white part of Tampa Bay, not Miami....
1 247world 2018-09-18
Nancy Grace doesn't qualify as human - vile, fetid excrement would be an improvement over that walking waste of breath
1 srb9586 2018-09-18
I agree, but if I was a publicist and that's the type of interview I saw my client walking into, I probably wouldn't be booking them there. There's a reason they have Roger Stone as a constant guest and people like Stern or Bennington get the Norm MacDonald interview.
1 247world 2018-09-18
I quit listing back when it was Opie and Jim so I really don't give a rat fuck who they have for guest
1 kusanagisan 2018-09-18
Erock is a better interviewer than Jim. I legitimately liked his show and his podcast is still fairly interesting.
1 UhLookHereMan 2018-09-18
I hate Erock with a passion but the interview he did with Meatballs from the Todd Show was really really good
1 kusanagisan 2018-09-18
He did a few good ones while he was with SXM. His podcast now is a pretty good mix of nerd culture stuff.
That's one of the things that makes Erock's podcast better than J&S - Erock never tried to be anything he wasn't when he set up his own thing, and took the effort to mold it into something that he's happy with.
1 rsroot 2018-09-18
But, sir... Ron is an adult man. (heterosexual man)
1 pm_me_ur_guinea_pigs 2018-09-18
Its head game shit.
He's manipulating the conversation in the direction he wants. Its what sociopathic ex girlfriend shit.
Boxers and stand ups have a huge huge culture of doing it, acting like they don't know an act or boxer, while stealing their bits and watching all the tape of those next opponent
1 Kevtv 2018-09-18
It's been said many many times but Jim is on a pop culture-based talk show and ignores all of pop culture.
Sam's take on it is equality horrid because he goes for the popular = good concept. He cannot fathom something being better that's not spoon fed to him like some Kraft mac and cheese.
Jim could at least pay attention to goof on it before you're by yourself in a basement dishing out 30 year old references to a few hundred people.
1 AiCPearlJam 2018-09-18
And there is no edge to their opinion. They parrot the news and Hollywood point of view. If they are challenged with something obviously wrong, but could be used against later "career success", they stumble with the whole "that's a tough one, man [but ultimately the race/gender baiters are right because we want to keep our jobs in media]"...
Also, the news stories they highlight are completely mundane and boring. Yet they spend a whole hour reiterating the same tired points over and over again.
1 BeerCanThick 2018-09-18
Just think about what he said about the award ceremony. He was pissed that he didn't get audio clips of a snobby industry and Amazon.com telling him what was good with awards. "We gotta get that audio. How are people supposed to know what to watch?"
Fucking drone.
1 CarmaNot 2018-09-18
Jim was/is very good at one thing: interjecting funny/mean things on the radio.
He's over-leveraged that skill to its maximum ability. He's not intelligent or insightful, he's not cultured, he lacks any sense of taste or curiosity to grow as a person. He's forever New Jersey trash who's come as far as possible on being a great 3 mic radio co-host.

Jim "I haven't seen it but I heard it's great" Norton
1 YoBGS 2018-09-18
Because he’s a degenerate who subscribes to the “strippers don’t date customers” theory. If he doesn’t see the movie, then he isn’t a fanboy. They’re just two creators talking on equal footing about their process.
He figured the second he’s seen as a fan, he can’t be seen as an equal.
1 MarbleSpaceDog 2018-09-18
Jim is 55, Sam is almost 40. They don't drink, they don't socialise in any normal way. They don't have any interests or hobbies. They don't read, they don't watch anything that isn't in their incredibly narrow field of interests. They can't hold normal conversations. They're likely both on the spectrum.
What a wonderful combination to hire to broadcast a topical comedy show aimed at young people.
1 BoardroomBimmy 2018-09-18
Yeah...but isn't it cute when Sam sarcastically asks something and Jimmy gets all sheepish and sarcastically replies back?

1 TheLastMrNiceGuy 2018-09-18
He probably has massive ADHD to the point where he cannot function properly and only does what he wants at the moment. Impulsiveness is one of the things nobody talks about when it comes to ADHD. The whole being on the phone 24/7 thing is the most obvious one. Nothing on his phone is more important than his job but the job doesn’t give immediate satisfaction.
I mean I haven’t listened to him since the O&A stopped being a thing so I’m just being fed second hand info but I doubt he’s glued to his phone when talking about comedy for example because that gives him the immediate satisfaction he needs.
Of course he can never fix this problem because he’s a recovering addict of 30+ years and doesn’t understand a medical dose isn’t going to get you high.
1 MeadBrew 2018-09-18
For a guy who complains he can never sleep, and really only works nights on Fri-Sun, he somehow never has any time to watch a guest's movie or a few episodes of a tv show.
1 Tranpasgreypubes 2018-09-18
And The Worm wonders why Vice wouldn't give him a talk show.
1 BoardroomBimmy 2018-09-18

1 BlobbyKelly00 2018-09-18
He's seen and heard of everything. He just doesn't want to have an opinion cause he's a middle of the road kind of guy.
1 Bizzyguy 2018-09-18
I really dont understand what Jim does all day. He has no family, his friends are working full time, he doesn't have gigs during the day. I thought he was joking when he said he edges 9 hours a day.
1 BoardroomBimmy 2018-09-18
He Googles himself, repeatedly hits Refresh on Facebook and Twitter and looks at child porn. That eats up a lot of hours.
1 whatisthishere 2018-09-18
This is one of the biggest issues with Jim and Sam. First they just don't know about things, secondly the only things they know about are really childish, and then third their job requires them stating an opinion and it's always like a kid doing a book report on something they didn't read.
1 Pud_Suckley 2018-09-18
At one point he said that he does no show prep because he "likes performing that way".
1 TrievelGoesSouth 2018-09-18
I’ve never listened to O&J or J&S, so I’ve kinda lost track of Jimmy after 2014. I’m honestly curious, what does Jim talk about? Like what does he seem to be interested in?
Is it the usual whores/trannies/masturbation/UFC shit, or has he grown as a person at all over the last 4 years?
Sam’s teenage girl level of pop culture knowledge annoys me, but I’d rather talk to someone whose cultural awareness is somewhat dynamic. It must be a nightmare to listen to an entertainment talk show hosted by a guy who basically stopped consuming media in 1980.
1 userx9 2018-09-18
I liked JandS at first but it's really deteriorated and really repetitive. Yesterday's show was probably their worst yet. They spent like half the show talking about the Emmy's. The worst part was they said they watched the Emmy's so they could talk about it on the show like these queens would have missed it anyway. Nobody who has listened to any iteration of this show gives a shit about the Emmy's or wants to hear about them, and that the two hosts don't see that is unreal. Further, they trashed the producer for not knowing they'd want to talk about the dumbass Emmy awards on the show. The whole thing was unlistenable and I'm likely done with the show shortly, will go back to listening to old O&A shows.
1 MadDog1981 2018-09-18
Look up his last Rogan appearance from a few months ago. Rogan tries repeatedly to get him talking about anything but sex and Jim just won't move on. It was one of the worst Rogan episodes in recent memory.
1 Sancho7711 2018-09-18
I was also annoyed by this, especially this morning.
1 chipmuink 2018-09-18
My favourite was Chuck Palahniuk interview in 2011. At that time I was really looking forward to it, because I was a fan and had never heard him talk. But it was just typical Worm blabbering. "I couldn't read your book. They literally gave it to us 30 minutes ago." "I have never read any of your books, but I have read Stephen King's books." "Wow, your book has a really nice cover. What material is it made from?" "What was the name of the author that Obama praised recently?"
1 Doc_McCoyXYZ 2018-09-18
The time they had Owen Roizman (the cinematographer from Exorcist) in was especially painful for me, as a cinematography fag/film nerd. The chicks from Guys We Fucked would have had more informed and legitimate questions.
1 BoardroomBimmy 2018-09-18
Please tell me that these questions are exaggerated for comedic effect. Its difficult to tell anymore.
1 Mintwa 2018-09-18
If those are real questions then my hatred for Jim just grew two times today.
1 JohnTheGreat78 2018-09-18
I think he has, he just acts like he hasn't.
1 CommodorePawsey 2018-09-18
Who gives a shit if he preps for interviews? I mean, you are right that he doesn’t, and it is unprofessional and shitty, but it never stopped him from being funny back in the day. He just isn’t funny anymore. Why are we even pretending that anything else matters? Anthony and Jimmy used to be funny and now they are not. That’s why they stink.
1 Kenn_Kennerson 2018-09-18
Its passive aggressive. He knows Christian Slater -- or whoever the fuck they have on their show -- hasn't seen Mouthful of Shame, so he wont give them the respect of watching their shit before the appearance
1 frontbottombm 2018-09-18
Well to be completely fair to Jem Nortran, those who are really good at edging will tell you it takes up the other 12 free hours of the day.
1 ucfgavin 2018-09-18
Jim does care about what they do....as long as it was before 1992
1 ThatNiggaDre 2018-09-18
To us, the guests may as well be a secret. Not only is he informed of the upcoming guests ahead of time, but he is also sent media material like books, film, etc. to prepare himself.
Stupid faggot not only can't sit through the shit he's provided, but he also doesn't watch real movies, world events or anything else to even comment on it for his show. One thing I always loved about Stern is he would force himself to sit through awards shows and what not so he could comment. Sam and Norton? Just ask each other questions about whatever it is for 30 minutes and call that a radio show.
1 BeerCanThick 2018-09-18
Opie was the worst of the trio on Opie and Anthony, but neither Anthony or Jimmy really seem to take in entertainment. Jim consistently says really bizarre things like, "I don't listen to stand up and watch comedy films, listen to comedy albums and read comedy books. I don't want to be influenced." What, somebody in an industry doesn't want to be informed of what's going on it and learn things and techniques and be inspired in it? You don't hear authors saying things like, "Yeah man, I don't like to read. Books, newspapers, magazines, internet websites, nothing. Its a real motherfuck. I don't wanna get influenced." You don't hear successful authors say that because its limiting and stupid.
What a fool.
