Making money with a podcast is a lot of work. He probably wouldn't have made money right out of the gate as he would have needed a year or two to build up an audience before he would see substantial money come through. But a paywall was instant money and they went for instantly cashing in and hoping to keep it up instead.

I think he would have seen a rapid decline even for free with the way he's acted the last several years. He kind of needed to do what Opie has done. Just be low key and do your own thing and stop worrying about every little thing people on the internet say about you.

Even though Novelrank is gone, it's still a bit useful. When Anthony was in the high teens - low 20,000's, he was selling 2 - 4 a day by their guess. Now his book is routinely in the 30,000's, and broke 40,000 a few times, so he's selling less.

Anthony will hang on to that high "General Broadcasting" rank, but the truth is, the book's a flop. Target dropped it to $17.00 in pre sale.

One thing that makes me laugh though is that every time it gets mention here, it jumps a tiny bit. Anthony must be buying.

But the thing hasn't been released yet and the tracking site you are using doesn't have access to any of amazons actual Amazon's preorder data.

Its a bullshit estimate that tries to reverse engineer the sales rank data that Amazon does publish. For small run books that thing is about as accurate as the the sites that try and estimate celebrities net worths.

The real question that no one is asking here is who actually paid to have the thing written/published. (And to the best of my knowledge Ant has never mentioned anything about the details of his publishing arrangement)

If the publisher footed the bill for this then the whole thing is basically a vanity project for Ant and it doesn't matter if he sells a single copy. There was never a chance at the thing becoming a bestseller- Ant is not Howard.

If he actually fronted the cash for any of this then that would be embarassing.
