Louis was such a fag about that. It's not like it was some genius or original bit, fuck everyone and their mother has jokes about how much of an asshole you can be. Denis Leary just took it and ran with it, making a pretty good joke out of it.
He wasn't really mad about it though when he brought it up on O&A, if you listen to it he was more pissed that Leary treated Anthony like shit and told the story more like "ah fuck him, he's a hack anyway."
And Leary is a thieving hack, he stole from Bill Hicks to and made it gimmicky with his gay phony tough-guy delivery.
