To me, that whole podcast is him doing away with what little dignity he had left and allowing himself to become a common clown in a last ditch effort to be accepted in the mainstream
Remember when everyone loved this show? Remember how funny it used to be, and even The fucking Rock got involved and made a video for the 1st live show? What the fuck happened to make it the irrelevant pile of shit that it is today? Did Chins McGillicutty leaving really have that big of an impact or would the worm have fucked everything up eventually anyways? Why am I asking so many questions when I don't really give a fuck?
Chip is funny for 30 seconds at a time in the middle of a much better broadcast. And even then, he is funny only in an ironic way. This isn’t even irony anymore, he is actually chip for an entire broadcast. It’s beyond unfunny. Calling it unfunny gives it the credit of being in the realm of comedy. It isn’t. It was never funny. Ever. It would be less unfunny if he wasn’t wearing stupid glasses and a goddamned wig. He should be ashamed of himself. Ashamed. That’s not hyperbole, that’s not exaggeration, he should be ashamed of himself.
I don't think Jim would at all be shocked to learn that this was his future. Jim's act was always a bunch of phony bullshit that he pulled from much better comics. He managed to trick a bunch of people for a long while that he was this surly, tell it like it is guy because that's what his friends are like. I wouldn't be surprised if being a stupid prop comic was always Worm's ultimate goal.
Your comment is the most concise and accurate assessment of Jim Norton ever.
I’d love to go back and comb through every Jim Norton hack comedian bit and see if he doesn’t annihilate another comic for the bullshit he’s currently pulling. It’s not awful, it’s atrocious, it’s insulting that he still thinks his prop comedy has any value to anyone whatsoever.
And the fact he has not one but two holes that constantly destroy anything of value to the show is a slap into the face of any Norton fans who loved his hole bashing.
I’m going to go back and listen to the tried and true early Jim Norton stand-up roast.
He was funniest when being cruel, and occasionally cutesy (which only worked because of the cruelty). He’s desperate to be popular and thinks he can use Chip to do it. He has forgotten what made him funny. He got spooked when Anthony lost his job, changed a few things and got lost in the process. If he worked with Ant on a daily basis he could recover. But he needs to be out of the corporate environment and needs Ant to be funny.
I don't think it had much longer of a shelf life but Lauren was definitely the nail in the coffin. As soon as she left he started bringing in boring, unfunny holes who had no idea how to play off the character and just thought it was cute or something. The last time I tried to watch an episode some awful cunt was playing a song on a fucking ukulele about how cool Chip was and I haven't tried to watch again ever since.
It wasn’t funny. I told you idiots that, but no one listened. I told you Opie wasn’t paranoid - he was an unfunny ass but still right - and no one listened. I told you the fake-laughing Ant and Artie show was a bomb from day one and no one listened. Frankly, none of you deserve my insights. Here is your next chance to completely ignore me. In about three years these idiots are going to finish failing. This is, literally, the beginning of the precipitous decline. Believe me, three years from now they will each look back on 2018 and wish they still had what they have now. Then, and only then, will they set aside their assholery and work together again. Will it be funny? That, I’m not telling you. I’m not going to do everything for you.
Ok, great predictor, what happens in the same period of time to the regulars on this sub? I assume they commit some kind of mass suicide when they realize that the things they sought to destroy were the only things that gave meaning to their pointless lives.
I’m not a prognosticator. I am able to make observations with a superhuman level of insight. It’s the one damned thing I can do but I do the hell out of it. This place will go largely unchanged until any of the boys gives reasons to. And even then, this place is elastic and will go back to its default. Even the Sudden Onset Opie Love is waning, though it shows the underlying (true) default: this place wants to like Opie and Anthony and Jim but they turned on us first because they stopped being funny and immediately blamed us for complaining.
" this place wants to like Opie and Anthony and Jim but they turned on us first because they stopped being funny and immediately blamed us for complaining. "
I hate on this sub sometimes because I never bought the whole, "they used to be mean to people on the radio so that justifies anything we do". Yeah they did Joctober but that shit ended at some point. I mean, a lot of the trolling here is funny but the fucking with peoples gigs and trying to ruin personal lives shit seems a bit much.
That being said, I guess I understand the annoyance at their immediate sensitivity when being mocked. That is annoying.
I don't think its so much 'they used to be mean on the radio' as it is them having an attitude of 'we're being mean and cruel to you for the sake of making ourselves laugh so take a fucking joke' The second you try and do the same to them on any level they whine worse than the people they were doing it to.
I actually kind of agree with you. Messing with peoples gigs is too far, but remember, Anthony has actually threatened to doxx people here. And then claimed that he did. I guess he either did, and shouldn’t have, or shouldn’t have lied. That’s when this place started getting worse for him.
The pathetic and dark side of Chip could have made him an interesting character. Instead of humanizing the character, Norton went for the cheapest jokes. Chip was intriguing in the beginning, but devolved with all the inane shit Norton put on him.

A prop comedian, like Carrot Top.
1 throwawizzlemahnizzl 2018-09-07
don't disparage CT like that
1 lolercakesmcgee 2018-09-07
Yes, Carrot Top at least has a show in Vegas.

No Carrot Top made and makes a Boatload of money .

The novelty wore off. Everything Jim could get out of the character has been used after a few episodes.

That's fair. I mean, I"m not gonna go fuck with someone's mom's funeral announcement or something over it, but that is fair.
1 Cawdor 2018-09-07
Yea this place definitely goes too far. I’ll bash them on here but I’m not going to actively fuck with any of them in real life.
As amusing as it was to get Ant kicked off Twitter, it was way more amusing to see his public descent into madness with each tweet.
He finally quit to stop providing fuel to the fire. I think this is the beginning of the end here.

We didn't have to listen...most of us were saying it before you were.
1 CommodorePawsey 2018-09-07
Some said it the same day. But you probably remember the threads and comments about how good it was.
1 Christopher_Barton 2018-09-07
Not even the Chris Hansen bullshit was worth a chuckle.

ME ME ME
we get it!

Good. Maybe next time I won’t have to tell you so many times before you get it.

When they got to Sirius the show got worse every year. By the end they were just winging it every day.

The character doesn't work outside of live interviews with unsuspecting people. Jim's a cringe hack

Can't even go back and listen to old Chip clips anymore. Completely ruined his old radio character.

Mugging at the camera. The height of comedy. Just like Carlin.
1 FezzyMarie 2018-09-07
I never thought this podcast was ever funny. I was burned out on the Chip character before it even started
1 LeninRaffles 2018-09-07
