Did the boys ever REALLY get one over on Howie?
28 2018-09-02 by Fredrock26
I've only ever heard episodes with comedians on em so as far as I know
They got gag ordered
they got tricked into another gag order after resigning
they got kicked out of the howie press release
they werent let into a VIP party their own company was throwing because he didnt want em there
Howie went to satellite with a MUCH larger contract than they could ever dream of
They tried to send pests to howies farewell march but they were rerouted by cops and forced into side alleys far from the festivities
Howie's company bought out their company and eventually rebranded it as sirius instead of siriusXM
the entire show eventually self destructed starting with anthonys firing and dying a slow death until opie got fired.
As far as I can tell they could gloat over taking howies old spot on terrestrial but they didnt even make that much money for it, they did very poorly and got dropped in a couple of years and they werent even the first choice

There’s no way he even remembers their names. I bet ya he didn’t even know who Opie was toward the end. “Just get that annoying guy outa the hall way.”

He did shit on Opie after Ant was fired.

He turned out to be right about that situation.

He does, he's vindictive and petty.
Not saying the boys didn't deserve the treatment they got, but Howard is a tool and was never funny, just had a handful of funny people around him.

True that, I’m guessing the list is long tho. Howard’s been steamrolling over radio cats since the early 80’s

Who do you think was behind their very unusual firings? I mean, both Ant and Opie got shitcanned over shit they had already done a thousands of times.

I bet you Howard was livid about having to have them in the same company or having Opie breaking into his place for a peek.

they were part of the reason why howard's daughter had to quit that play, which i'm sure caused a lot of problems in his life.
listening to old shows and hearing them gloat about the free fm deal is pretty funny with how it turned out for them. an opie quote from 06 when he thought they were going to take over radio:
"Howard Stern showed he can't cut it on regulated radio. We can," says Opie.
"Stern thought [CBS Radio] would completely collapse without him and now that the ratings are out, it's got to be driving him nuts," says Opie.

What play are you talking about sir
1 Youseeonlydarkness 2018-09-02
I was in a play where she talked about her cooter in public like a total slob.
1 Narc3119 2018-09-02
i think it was called kabala and she played madonna in it and was supposed to get naked. the play director leaked to the press that howard's daughter was in it. o and a were going to send the pests to heckle her and so she pulled out and never acted again.

"HOWARD'S A HACK WHO COULDN'T ADAPT! HOWARD'S A HACK WHO COULDN'T ADAPT!"
Oof was that embarrassing. Even then when I was an Opie and Anthony fan and rooting for them to usurp Stern i found that cringe enducing.

Yeah it was pretty pathetic how they tried to sell it to xm subs as well. No matter how you look at it with all the bitching they did about terrestrial when they first got on XM it was a watered down and censored version of the show that they sold out for

Though their recent actions have made them all hateable I will give them one thing. Howard took on other guys and addressed them by name. Bubba, Debella, etc. But he usually only ever mentioned O+A after they were fired. He didn't really take them on like he did the others. I think he actually did recognize their talent and that he couldn't steamroll them like he did others. Luckily for him, he didn't have to, they destroyed themselves time and time again. Howie is smart and recognized there was no reason to take on a battle when they hurt themselves more than he ever could.

They did draw their audience directly from Howard and had all the same sponsors so I’m sure there were a few landlines. Stern also only went after people who were beating him already. He didn’t want to let o and a use that tactic on him. Other than that I don’t think he gave them much thought. I remember the wow promotion got under his skin for awhile but he tried not to talk about it.

I don’t think Jim or Ant actually hate or even care about Howard. Opie is obsessed with him, but can’t think of anything to say. He’s like a 12 year old boy trying to think about what to say to his crush who doesn’t care about him.

Ant was a big fan of Howard when he was younger
1 thrillated 2018-09-02
That child-bitter and Brother Mo went on Howard themselves as I recall.

Just Ant, or at least only he got on air that morning.

1 thrillated 2018-09-02
I'm revisiting Ron & Fez instead, there's a lot of good stuff that I hadn't heard before.
1 rsroot 2018-09-02
Tons of good stuff in the Ron and Fez archives!!! Don't skip over the WJFK years.

No. I'm more of a O&A fan but I have to admit up until recently, Stern has never placed himself in a position to be made to look bad by anybody. His whole career is a shit show now, but back in the day he was regularly convincing the world that O&A were just trash, and anybody who went into it thinking that and finally tuning in also felt that way until repeated listening when something snaps and you become a fan. It's usually something that one of the comics says or does that the show just goes along with, and you tie that memory to the show and not the comic. O&A was great as a PLATFORM for certain funny people... it was a vibe, not really a prepared or even entertaining show. Sometimes the fact that it wasn't entertaining was the whole joke. Howard actually does a show. Where fake shit happens, they set up and plan certain angles and what not and perhaps some of it is real still. They are all agreeing to play along and be on a SHOW. You hear the word SHOW itself on Howard's show all the time. Howard was a real character. He was never a comic, but he was lightning quick at playing that infamous character of his. He was one of the last legitimate "personalities" in media. Most people now are just shilling for something. He shilled for himself. Whereas O&A is seen more like an outlet for people who aren't O&A to say mean shit and O&A play along with it.
Every story that Howard told about O&A made them sound like pussies, and the clips where O&A responded, they sounded like they were lying (even if they weren't). Everytime O&A told a story about Howard, it came off like them being jealous or it was always something that somehow actually made O&A look worse. For example, they told a story that amounts to them hearing that Howard (an actual celebrity) was having a press conference, so like little fanboys they decided to attend that event, and were promptly thrown out of the event like the nameless faces in the crowd that they were.
Love the O&A show forever and love them for introducing me to Ron & Fez too, but Howard will always be The One. If you could take Howard and throw in some of Norton's improv ability and some of his good traits, you would have the greatest spoken word entertainer in any form of media.

Damn you on the nigga dick harder than Opie.
1 TheNextDenzel 2018-09-02
Not really, I just have a lot of comments to share with you useless faggots.
1 StutterinPrickYou 2018-09-02

Howard can take a hike.

Yeah I guess one example where they got over on Howard was the one time that Stone Temple Pilots or playing a Secret show at the park. Howard Stern was teasing it all week a super special guest band was performing at the park, then by some miraculous coincidence, Opie and Anthony were on the same plane as the bass player for the band. They ended up talking and that's when the guy revealed to them that they were performing at Central Park. The following day Opster went on the radio and "took the wind out the sails" of old Howard. That's when Howard Stern first started noticing Ona. There is a link somewhere go fuckyourself
1 MawBTS1989 2018-09-02
Stern's 2005 contract with Sirius Satellite Radio was reportedly worth five hundred million dollars.
When the O&A show ended, a "protest" gathered in support of Ant with like 4 people.
The O&A pests sure punked Howard that one time, though! RAMOOOONE! ROBIN QUIVERS BELONGS IN A DUNK TANK! FRRRRUNKIS!

Taking most of Howard’s stations was pretty badass even looking back on it now. Granted they handed that crown to Big A and Twitchels for some fucked up reason, but they got one solid ratings book out of the interest they stirred.
1 Jani3D 2018-09-02
Wow. Never even noticed.
1 Scotlandtastic 2018-09-02
Howard makes more in a year than these boobs made in their whole career
1 mb0087 2018-09-02
No. All they got was an admission of a gag order.
1 BrothamanB5010 2018-09-02
We always knew which ones who had the better show though. Howard Stern's show was always hacky, boring shit.
1 Billyassman 2018-09-02
Sterns and old rich jew, lives with 20 cats and one aging pussy.
1 BumbiBestie 2018-09-02
