Now, we all know that "cocktail waitress" is code for shtupping on the Cross Island Parkway for supplemental income, but that makes all her hooking, sacrifices, and devotion to her crackhead children all the more meaningful.
And really highlights how incredibly vile, despicable, and wholly selfish Anthony's refusal to visit his dying and deteriorating mother was. We like to joke, but I'm being completely serious that making a conscious decision to abandon your doting mother while she is consumed by the ravages of Alzheimer's the most reprehensible and hateable thing Anthony has ever done in his entire life. And his almost jovial attitude as he tries to justify himself to Ron really belies what an utter garbage human he is. "What, like she'd remember? I had all these good memories of her, why would I want to ruin them?"
Alzheimer's patients remember weird things including who visited when and how often because it's out of their routine. She undoubtedly went to her final sleep regretting ever giving caring for Cunthony.
