Anthony looks and sounds so different

Look at him just five years ago. Confident in his movements, his voice sounds natural, his movements and cadence easy and confident.
Contrast 2018. His voice is completely strained. Confidence gone, replaced by oozing Jackie-Martling-style desperation. He sounds like he's at the end of his rope. It's weird that there's been such a total transformation in his onscreen presence.
What happened?
