You know why Patrice O'Neal appearances were always so great? Because Jim Norton was absent from most of them.

Imagine Uncle Paul interrupting Patrice's rape story. Or Chip butting in during the "Hello O'Neal" story.
Jim Norton is the luckiest man in show business.

When Nortan was gone to film Lucky Louie those were by far the best shows.

Nortan

Gim Nortan with a high profile gig on HBO, only to stab Louie in the back years later
1 AliFrazier 2018-08-13
Yes. So many classic bits like top ten country songs in America came from that time.

What would Jim Norton have done with that bit?
“Come to Ted’s Country Emporium!”

...and the worst episodes of Lucky Louie.
Holy shit was he awful on that show.
1 StarWarsMonopoly 2018-08-13
Slightly shakes head and opens eyes really wide but still somehow blinks too much
Nice camera presence, stupid.
1 AliFrazier 2018-08-13
He was responsible for Louie CKs only failure really. Even Pootie Tang had a cult following.
No wonder Louie never used him again.
1 deepdirt 2018-08-13
That character was ridiculous.
Norton is an admittedly shitty actor.
It pained me to hear Louis praise him for that goofy role.
That show sucked, with or without Norton... although I always thought Adlon was sexy.
1 SpeckofCoppah 2018-08-13
Adlon is always sexy.
1 Phkna1 2018-08-13
Jim is a terrible actor.
1 ChocomelTM 2018-08-13
He is awful in everything
1 Anarox 2018-08-13
Except for the best ones, face-off, Independence Day, up and down game etc
1 _TheConsumer_ 2018-08-13
Was he in for Wesley Snipes?
1 Anarox 2018-08-13
Nah, but opie did good on that one, started the whole bit
1 ChocomelTM 2018-08-13
As usual

I listened to the clip of Louis CK when he was asking Rumsfeld if he was a lizard and it was so damn funny. Then I remembered when Norton tried to do the same thing by acting like chip on a phone call and the contrast of how shitty Jim is really set in.

Jimmy was great back then when he was a self loathing fat mess.
1 Soundboard_Fez 2018-08-13
He and Ant were both pretty hilarious when they were being guided/set-up by an actual broadcaster who wasn't as funny, but did show prep and actually had some concept as to how to structure a cohesive broadcast.

You mean Jimmy?
1 Soundboard_Fez 2018-08-13
Probably. Too bad they didn't learn to delegate that responsibility when they got promoted. The thing is a mess these days.
1 BrothamanB5010 2018-08-13
Too bad they got the personality of the lowest of nerds from high school, shouldn't be on the air at all.

He's so irredeemable in the present day, history has to be revised to suggest the Patrice era wasn't the heyday of his adoration within the community.
1 americanmook 2018-08-13
It took the rape episode for people to stop asking for Jimmy to come back and less Patrice.
1 lifeobenreilly 2018-08-13
The first full show I ever listened to - Anthony's Birthday show (I found it under "Even his black friends are racist!") - was Patrice at his best. He raged on Louis CK for not being turned by black women. He commented on how a naked East Side Dave makes everything, including a simple cup of water in his hand, taste nasty just from him being around. He theorized how Wesley Snipes tenure would be in federal prison. He challenged Ant's racist thoughts and got some thoughtful discussion out of it. He talked about picking up a creditor over the phone.
Fucker could carry a show because he had solid opinions, right or wrong. Not ol' wishy washy Jimmy Neutron.

I was listening to /u/braunheiser's NOpie - Patrice - Jocktober stream today and a show was on where Patrice was talking about a trade the Celtics made like 6 years ago and I found it interesting all because Patrice took the conversation in different areas and was funny with the callers.
He could make any boring, stupid segment interesting because he had an opinion on just about every single topic and would happily argue about it.
1 braunheiser 2018-08-13
He always had a strong opinion but never gave it in a way where he thought his opinion was the right one. Not one of those people who thought they knew it all, just laid out his thoughts and welcomed all responses. and we got stuff like the Face Off clip from it... RIP the big feather hat man in the sky
1 brmlb 2018-08-13
the O&A world is like Jesus, Before Patrice, and After Patrice. AP, everything has been less enjoyable, more miserable. Patrice died right before social media would have ruined him.
1 Joeymomma101 2018-08-13
He always has to shoehorn his sexual fetishes into every conversation.
1 RickVince 2018-08-13
Holy fuck I never realized that...
1 Ants_Oily_Hair 2018-08-13
Buckets of aids r cool. Deal w it
1 dennyofalcone 2018-08-13
Wait, we're pretending Norton wasn't funny back on O&A now? I can look past the recent Opie love, but this is too far. 2018 Norton is awful, but he used to be hilarious.
1 PepsiOkay 2018-08-13
Sorry man, the autists here have spoken. Best just keep your head down and fall in line.
1 RapistWithHIV 2018-08-13
I almost hate old tough guy Jim Norton more than current suicidal Jim. Horrible.
1 AliFrazier 2018-08-13
Sure he was a funny guy, but he's literally been doing the same tired characters and jokes the entire time.
1 JudgeHolden00 2018-08-13
Totally agree. At least 75% of any classic Opie and Anthony segment has nothing to do with Jim.
1 nycforwork84 2018-08-13
Jim Norton sucks!
1 metalion4 2018-08-13
These were the first shows I heard, I hated Jim at first.. I had no idea he was a co-host
1 StarWarsMonopoly 2018-08-13
The worst part about Jim is that he tries to have a joke about everything.
He jokes so often that his whiffs become funnier than the real jokes.
Over time you begin to forget that you're laughing at him not being funny.
Then once you notice it, all his jokes about midgets and burn victims and terminal illnesses aren't funny at all because you realize he can't even score 10's with gruesome humor or simple jokes.
He just averages out really good jokes with a huge cluster of bad ones
1 Fredrock26 2018-08-13
I've never heard a O and A episode without patrice colin louis or burr. Ive never heard them on the radio, only youtube
1 americanmook 2018-08-13
Same. Patrice was the best cause opie couldn't do shit to him, so opie spoke less.
1 tstein2398 2018-08-13
The Nick DiPaolo episodes and a few random gems here and there are the only other ones worth listening to. You didn't miss much.
1 Fredrock26 2018-08-13
Nicks funny but im so tired of hearing his high taxes and how liberals run hollywood
1 SpeckofCoppah 2018-08-13
Hack Court - The Jim Norton Tapes with Jim and Patrice was pretty good.
It gave us the "shaped like any container your pour him into" line.
1 hitch21 2018-08-13
I still steal that and pretend it's my own.
1 RRrr46675m 2018-08-13
Wow. So out of touch. Those two loved each other and there are brilliant appearances where they are both there. The face off thing? All those conversations about women? this subreddit is filled with miserable hater cunts. Toxic as fuck. Who goes on a forum for the artist, lives there, and does nothing but talk shit? Fucking neck beard losers who need to hate to feel valid. That’s who.
1 AliFrazier 2018-08-13
Well you were making a list of bits were Jim was funny with Patrice and you had to wrap it up at one before you ran out.
1 RRrr46675m 2018-08-13
Fine, fucko. Here goes: face off, Patrice talking about women not leaving when you aren’t emotional, anything about Brazil, Patrice saying “let’s have an intervention for this little homosexual” referring to Jim liking trannies, the endless race conversations and on and on.
1 JerkyJimmy 2018-08-13
Why did Jimmy's radio, TV, movie, comedy career never really take off? He's been doing it for so long. He's got that Richard Jenny blend in with the dirty grout energy.
