Alcohol withdrawals can actually kill you if your dependency is severe enough, and while jails despise addicts and generally treat them like shit, they'd be in a world of shit if one died shitting themselves on the floor of their facility. There's no way to really gauge someone's dependency on alcohol, so if Nana says "Yeah I'm starting to get the DT's, if I don't get a benzo or a drink I'm gonna seize out." The cops may feel compelled to get them to the hospital to avoid a potential lawsuit. Or they could let him seize out and see if he's full of shit or not, as many jails have and continue to do.
He was able to escape prison with that excuse too. His expensive Jew lawyer helped him go to a resort spa "rehab" to not have felony convictions on his permanent record. Why doesn't Anthony ever talk about the stent in his heart?
