He's just not funny, it's why he didn't sound bummed at all when Cumia was no longer allowed in the building, because he knows he simply can't compete with Anthony when it comes to riffing with Jimmy.
At least Anthony would sort of push what Jimmy was making fun of even further, what can Sam really offer? All he watches are current shows or current documentaries. Anthony was bringing older things to the show, interesting stories from his life or past experiences and he was perfectly fine with being made fun of.
It doesn't surprise me we now don't hear Sam's mom or dad on the show or Kevin Pollak. He can't handle it. He will never be as funny as Anthony Cumia was, not even close so his only choice is to make it more about wrestling etc.

Also he's terrible at conversation and has no interesting perspective on anything. He was always the role of kid with a sarcastic comment, which he was fine doing but that's not the guy have host a show. His "knowledge" of radio is watching Opie make the interns fight when they had to kill time and using your place on the show to bully people who can't really fight back.
Even worse, he actually thinks he earned his position. He thinks the entertainment industry is like an actual job and because he put years into doing shit work he now should be promoted. If Sam had talent his solo shows would've taken off, they didn't. Fuck that asshole for not realizing the only reason he is there is because he was known by OnA fans and cost probably a 20th of what Opie or Ant did.
Agree with you completely, it annoys me the lack of respect he has for the old show and how he's so happy to move on from it but he doesn't realise it made him. J&S wouldn't be there without O&A, that's why we have the right to say 'enough of the fucking wrestlers' when he goes overboard with it or to say the show simply isn't funny enough to listen to
