But watch Rickles in the 70's and 80's at roast - I'm all for working blue, but you don't need to be blue to be cutting, and even without cursing, the man was funny. He'd never last if he started today, and that's a shame.
His secret was always smoothly reminding the audience that it's all in fun. I don't think the audience would believe that now.
