Wheres the lecturing? This says "stand up comedy", but he hasnt made a single moral judgement. Jesus, at least TRY to make people think.

At the time, yes you're right. He was pushing boundaries and conservative ideals pushed back.

But watch Rickles in the 70's and 80's at roast - I'm all for working blue, but you don't need to be blue to be cutting, and even without cursing, the man was funny. He'd never last if he started today, and that's a shame.

His secret was always smoothly reminding the audience that it's all in fun. I don't think the audience would believe that now.

I don't think auidences are nearly as sensitive as people think they are.
