Is it so insane that it would be more interesting for Jimmy to make Sam listen to his ritual for buying and paying for Web cam tokens and what he makes them do for the tokens? Would being honest actually make him more entertaining?

Calling out easy targets is also a big sign of being a giant hack and a gutless little worn. Steve Martin may not be that funny anymore but at one time he was hilarious and nowadays he’s just a Grammy winning bluegrass musician who used to be an A list actor and sought after stand up. Jim made and makes aids jokes. And probably has aids. So he’s got that goin for him. Which is nice.
