You know I don't even mind really. All people -- no matter how hard they pretend not to -- have a worldview that is essentially based on assumptions, faith and other pre-rational tendencies. What gets me is that they pretend 'science' is giving them the ultimate authority on what's real -- even when it comes to their goofy metaphysics.
'Special' is a value judgement. It has nothing to do with 'science'.
