Question about Past Jocktobers

So on numerous occasions, Opie has outright said on the O&A show that Howard Stern was washed up, had the mush mouth of someone trying to keep their dentures in, and wasn't doing good radio anymore. Obviously, Opie had plenty of resentment and jealousy towards Stern (probably because he wanted to sit in Stern's seat), hated Robin and called her a hole (probably because he was jealous of how much more she made than him and how she didn't have to do much work on the show), and hated the Stern show in general because he couldn't be part of that world (the way he called Howard a sell out for wanting to mingle with celebrities like Jimmy Kimmel).
Here's what I don't get: if Opie really thought the Stern show sucked, why didn't he ever Jocktober it? Obviously he felt that Stern was phoning it in, and it's not like Opie couldn't get clips of the Stern show. After Ant got fired and Stern commented on it, Opie played a clip on his show and commented on what Stern said, shouting about it, so obviously O&A could've gotten clips from Stern. So why did he never Jocktober that show? Did he think he'd eventually be part of that crowd (I remember him telling some story about how Stern and Weaze made peace but Stern said he wasn't ready for Opie yet) and wanted to keep that door open, or was it something where Stern would've made the bosses come down hard on O&A?

Management would not have liked the direction of the show.

Simple, there always was a business connection: K-Rock, Sirius during time of the merger>SiriusXM.
"Talent on talent crime" isn't the direction management likes.

Stern hates all competition. Now he doesn't want anybody else but his wife to own cats.

Besides corporate reasons, Stern was clearly way better at radio than most of these jocks, at least up until 5 or 6 years ago, so it would have been risky for the Opester to play any of his clips for fear that O&A listeners would actually enjoy it and turn the dial toward Stern. But also, corporate reasons.

Not a bad point, actually, but I think Ant and Jim together were entertaining enough to maintain their audience. If he tried it during O&J I'd absolutely believe you, but O&A would've maintained their fan base I believe.
