Wake up at 6am and run 5 miles then my day is done a lot of the time. Finished work full time about 3 years ago as I got lucky and can live off homes I own and rent out. Do a bit of work for family business when needed/bored. Also as of last year decided to kill time traveling so did New Zealand and doing new York and sri Lanka this year. Thinking of Caribbean next year but also thinking about doing ultra marathon running and going to warm weather countries in the winter to train.
Other than that kill time online as everyone else I know is stuck at work and I don't want another relationship where I am paying for someone to not work.
I looked into getting a second mortgage and renting it out and I will one day but you can't give up full time work. There's too many liabilities as a land lord. You have to pay the mortgages, furnish them to a certain standard, landlord insurance and you can get shitty tennant's who don't pay, pay late, refuse to leave etc etc. High court enforcement and baillifs cost a shit tonne. All while making the mortgage payments.
There's no way you have multiple properties paid off in full, and you make enough to travel the world while being unemployed.
I 'live' off a slightly higher than average 'wage' and am able to put money in a pot to travel. And obviously have a lump sum I go into if any issues that might pop up.
The 8 weeks in new Zealand i spent a lot of time with friends etc. Sri Lanka roughing it so won't be pricy. So its not like I go 5 star.
The week in new York will cost me near half as my 8 weeks in new Zealand did.
