I was genuinely moved hearing Opie breaking down over he and Anthony's deteriorated relationship and the good old days. Never heard it before and I actually felt a feeling hearing Opie--who sure catches plenty of well-earned shit by us assholes but has also been an integral part of a show obviously all of us have listened to for thousands of hours--actually emote and talk fondly and sadly about his partnership with Ant. It made him almost not a big-tittied zilch for once in my pissy eyes.

That really threw me off. A real emotion for once and it humanized Opie. He doesn't have to cry, but revealing true emotions about his firing and social fallout should be his job now. That's all anyone wants to hear about, if he wants listeners. Most of me believes this podcast is to save face.

Hadn't thought of this but I think you're entirely right. That clip of him being honest and real made me like him more than anything else. By contrast, Ant seemed like a huge douche with his "rebuttal."

I was prepared to shit on you for this but it was actually pretty good. I appreciate that you treat this like a real documentary but then pepper in a bunch of inside jokes and insults.

Going back and listening to this stuff objectively and no longer through the lense of a diehard O&A fan is eye-opening. I kind of became numb to Anthony's rantings. It just became a part of the show where I zoned out, like bitching about management and terrible celebrity interviews. But god damn, Anthony sounds like a crazy person. Even if he makes some good points, it gets drowned out by his fear mongering and limp-wristed revenge fantasies. As soon as race is mentioned, Anthony is immediately at a 10, yelling about statistics and NASA control rooms. I forgot how much it just comes off like a crazy man ranting that everyone is out to get him.

And going back and listening to Opie throughout this, I developed a bit of actual sympathy for him. Not to say that he wasn't at fault for a lot of things, but he showed some actual emotion and really seemed sad that things ended the way that they did. Meanwhile, Anthony takes virtually no responsibility for everything even though the show ending is absolutely, unquestionably, 100 percent his fault and his fault alone. Opie could have fought harder for him and yadda yadda, but its still Anthony's fault. He ruined everything and everyone is in the pathetic positions that they are in now because of him. Don't ever forget that.
