Medical advice please from anyone who's ever gone off Venlafaxine (Effexor). I know it's not related but there are a high dose of medicated people here and I'm desperate

BORING UNFUNNY POST DONT READ IF THIS DOESNT APPLY: Was on Venlafaxine 150mg for about 3 and a half years and then 225mg got about half a year but it wasn't doing anything for me so I weened off with the intention to transfer to Sertraline. I did it in accordance with my doctor's instruction, 2 weeks of 150mg and then 2 weeks of 75mg. I was only 8 days into the 75mg, on Tuesday, when they told me to flush out for Sertraline. I didn't take anything Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and today I started on 50mg of Sertraline. Tuesday was fine but ever since Wednesday I've been sick beyond functioning 24/7. I feel nauseous 50% of the time, the worst part imo, and had an honestly constant headache/fuzzy head. Bouts of mania have been the lease of my worries. Does anyone know when this will stop? I've read online it could take up to you a year but I seriously can't hack another week of this never mind a year. The most productive thing I can do in this state is sit on the toilet. If anyone has experience going off Effexor pls help I'm dying over here

Fuck big Pharma, just smoke weed homie. Hope that helps!

I would but I dropped out of higher education because weed annihilated my productivity and I became very dependant on it. The whole point of changing meds was to eliminate the anxiety that was making me so reliant on grass. Also I can't afford it, I'm £1500 in the hole and not earning. Thanks though appreciate it

You're just a loser that's makes excuses man up and do what you need to do

Yes alright Uncle Breastwood, I'll grab a nip of Bourbon and say a few prayers while I'm at it.

I don't drink anymore because I grew up and wanted to be more than another fuck-up loser

Right and what do you think I'm trying to do? You stopped drinking, I stopped smoking grass. I'm trying to get myself sorted out, same as you did, but you're attacking me for being hopeful that medication can help me? What a crime. Whenever I do get cleared up I'm gonna fuck that wife that took your kid when you threw one bottle too many at it's head, you miserable old fuckwit.

more excuses faggot, youre a sad sap of shit.

Good shout, I'll drop out that MechEng degree I was trying at. What's the point of trying if Breastwood thinks I'm nothing. You got a phone number for anyone need some truckin done partner? Ima fuck your kids too btw

could of, would of, should of. you went from a promising degree to crying like a women cause you have no pills your doctors got you hooked on. what happened? no wonder why the muzzies are taking your lands with ease...

It's summertime oldboy, schools out, I'm headed back in September, meanewhile your wife still won't let you see that kid. No "muzzies' around here either, 99% good old white Irish Catholic. Try again though

We need to get this man back on the weed. Did you know you can eat it now too?

Mate if it didn't make my want to lay on my arse all day I'd smoke it, drink it, eat it and fuck it. I adore the stuff

You don’t fuck weed, you make love to it brotherman.

Suck it up, buttercup

Thanks mate wilco

Seriously though benadryl helps. Take like 200 mg. Godspeed

They prescribed Zopiclone but I took one last night and all it did was make me feel sicker and leave me with a rank taste in my mouth. Was still awake hours later. I think the nausea overrode the tablet. Thank you tho

Umm what does that have to do with swallowing i benadryls? Thats lunesta, right? It aint shit. Trust me

Might give it a try. So fucking sleepy already though the notion of taking anything that'll make me even more groggy is off-putting tbh

The Sertraline is making you nauseous, dummy.

I was very nauseous on Wednesday and Thursday before starting the Sertraline. I know I'm not dying btw I'd live forever in this state it's just very very unpleasant tbh. Thank you tho, just want to sort it out

I've read online it could take up to you a year

That's for people who have been on it for decades. Anxiety causes all the symptoms you're describing, it's mostly that and not some kind of severe withdrawal.

I don't know man 4 years is a decent amount of time and effexor is supposedly the worst for withdrawals out off all ssri/ssnis. I can tell you I never felt sick like this from anxiety before I ever took the meds. If this is the case how long before the Sertraline kicks in and it subsides? If you know

Dr. Melfi from The Sopranos told Tony it would take a few weeks. Looking it up and with a month and a half you should feel the effects of it. The effexor will be out of your bloodstream within a few days, so aside from the side effects cause from the setraline you'll probably start feeling better soon.

That sounds brilliant man I really hope so. Thanks

All that really does is sometimes cause heartburn and blurs your vision for a couple hours after each dose for the first two weeks or when you miss a day, fam.

Post this shit on /r/drsteve or drink a fifth of vodka right the fuck now.

I didn't even know he had his own sub, I exclusively live here... Thanks, maybe that mention will summon him somehow, hopefully

Legend has it that if you say the magic incantation " /u/drsteve103 " he'll appear, and tell you to harden the fuck up Re: your Effexor/Sertraline/Morning Sickness.

See below, pal!

This is what I'm talking about govt trying to drug people up

He's from some gay country though he calls pills tablets

so much for socialized medicine

I, for one, am absolutely shocked that you are a total fuckup. Your whiny rambling about downvotes wasn't a sign at all.

Yeh yesterday wasn't a great day, as acknowledged in a later post last night

I guess that was kind of mean. God be with u no bs

He's stealing my off meds bit

hoo hoo

Joe Matarese?

Not at all. Totally accurate. Cheers bro

Why not get off all these mind drugs and join us back in the real world?

Seriously though folks, shouldn't you be calling your doctor and not asking degenerates on a defunct comedy show subreddit?

The people here know much more about these medications than my doctor does. He's a GP, this shit is 1% of his gig whereas Bams seed would put Escobar's narcotic knowledge to shame

Woah, Joe Rogan has an account here?!

I’ve been on Effexor for 11 years. If I miss even one dose, I feel fucked up or get “brain zaps.” It really could be your body withdrawing. Why are you switching?

Yep I got the zaps too. If I didn't take it by about 6pm my brain started falling apart. Changing because it just isn't working for me anymore really, it's that simple. Not happy with where I'm at

I never had that experience coming off Effexor. I did have something similar after my last SNRI but it only lasted a few days. It's hell though lmao. Switch when you're taking it from morning to night (or vice versa), personally when I took it at night I felt better.

Could be WDs from the Effexor, could be startup sides from Zoloft. I have Xanax as a backup, especially handy when switching psych meds. Ask the doc about this, if addiction/abuse isn’t a concern.

Thanks mate

I had the same issues when I went off Duloxetine cold turkey. I knew better and I did it anyway and I suffered for about 2 to 3 weeks and then it wore off. It is self-limited. It's your brain getting used to reduce levels of Serotonin and norepinephrine.

The other option is to have a compounding pharmacy make you some intermediate doses so you can wean off this stuff. Feel free to email me through my website if I can be of any service.

Thanks sir, as long as I know it's not going to last for an extended period of time I can grin and bear it. Much appreciated

If it does, talk to your prescriber, pal

I took Zoloft (Sertraline) forever ago... I stopped taking it because it gave me the shits like literally everyday. There's nothing that eases extreme anxiety and panic attacks like having chronic diarrhea. In public. Good luck!

Don't need the Sertraline for that brotherman, this nigga shits loose

Tee hee... Technically I can't be a brotherman... Bams Seed isn't the only laydeee here! :)

I seriously went though a similar thing. I don't know much advice. Drink water and see if weed helps your stomach and appetite. I had to smoke to eat when I was between luvox and trintillex

You should have weaned off longer. It's called SSRI Discontinuation Syndrome. Or, HeadZaps.

SSRIs have a blunting effect on your sensation of the world. Sort of like a foam rubber shield or using earplugs. The sensations are there, just a little less loud. So when you go off of them too quickly, your senses go back to normal. Which ends up feeling loud/itchy/prickly/zappy because you had been desensitized.

Another analogy that might work better. It's like when your arm goes numb and then feels all prickly when it starts coming back.

BTW, Effexor is supposed to be the worst for these symptoms.

When it happened to me, I just toughed through it. You aren't crazy, it's not permanant. Treat it like a hangover. Consider trying something like benedryl to slow things down a little. Ask your doctor of course.

Also, Zoloft is pretty bad with the side effects too. You might consider trying Prozac. I consider it to the the best of these kinds of drugs.

Thanks brother, on the way up again already thank fuck
