No shit. I remember when I first got into R&F. The moment Ant got fired I gave up on that show. Old clips were getting stale and it became more apparent than ever how terrible Opie is. I needed something new. I’d always enjoyed R&F. Found it weird but funny and when O&A would talk about it I found it really interesting. Once I took the deep dive... it was an epic 3 year listening journey. Became familiar w/ all the characters and inside jokes. Knew when it was a shoot and when it was a work. Just brilliant fucking radio.
If anyone reading this hasn’t dug into the Ron and Fez archives.... you’re depriving yourselves of genius, weirdness and hilarity.

Yup. You would sit through hours of normal, funny radio banter with Pepper Hicks in anticipation of Ron finally looking over and saying, “Locked up today Fez? What’s wrong buddy?” And the weirdness would ensue.
As much as those last few years were still good and could be excellent from time to time... the late 2000’s were fucking amazing. Before that was great too but if you want the best era of that show it’s between 2006 and early 2010. Those years were bonkers and some of the best radio you’ll ever hear.
Many, many, many people have said that the years of Ron and Fez that had East Side Dave and Black Earl on them were the best years. And they’re absolutely right. Incredibly funny and engaging radio/entertainment.
I mean the Midnight Rider bit was kind of hilarious. They would never admit it was dave but everyone knew and they kept it up for way longer than it made sense to.
first few months of 2007 were insane. Earl starts fainting, Master Po chokes everyone out, Dave gets hot sauced, Dave breaks up with his girl, Dave leaves the show, Midnight Rider comes in, Dave fights the Midnight Rider, Paul O and his wife are having horrible fights on the air almost daily, the shitty Christmas gift, Fez farts himself awake... just off the top of my head.
Don't forget, Dave starts dating his future cheating ex wife, Intern Revolution, Earl fucks up the live event planning, Earl gets fired, Gail O kills herself.
No they did not, they were great. But now.... No fezzy to bounce off on or point at in some way, but we get his unfunny daughter, simply because she is his daughter and a fucking horseman
it's highly unlikely, but it would be amazing if Fez would fill in while she's gone. the first and only time he's called into Bennington is when Gail announced her pregnancy.
I used to buy into the “hole” maxim. And I took healthy shits on Gail at the beginning. But she has won me over. I find her laugh is endearing and she can score many assists during conversations and especially when Ron is laying the boots into Chris and Vito. She’s intelligent too, which has got to be the reason why she drives so many basement pests so nuts.
Also... the current show format of bringing one or two comedian guests in for a segment or two works. And if you treat all the satellite shows like podcasts and selectively listen from the On Demand list.... you can avoid overdosing on any show or host or guest that triggers or bothers you or spoils your plate of tendies. ;)
Gail is okay on her own but my problem with her is Chris Stanley was already there to agree 100% with whatever Ron says. You don't need two parakeets to repeat Ron's opinion in the room

People say the last few years of R&F were garbage but I still found Fez crying, coming out, and getting into half-worked fights with Stanley and the interns entertaining as fuck. Pepper's 30th birthday show made me laugh more than anything O&A did in their last five years on radio.
Shelby's description of Fez's sister wearing dark sunglasses at dinner because of her light sensitivity as like Jack Nicholson sitting courtside at the laker's game cracks me up. Just the weirdness in the air at that table

The Fez Vs Legion Of Skanks Saga is worth a listen, Ant was really fucked up and made a bunch of jokes and Fez couldn't get mad at Ant (the same way he won't turn on Ron even when Ron antagonizes him) so Fez goes hard at Jay & Dave for no real reason.
That was always the best when Ron would be shitting all over Fez and just saying mean shit to him, and then Dave or Chris or an intern would laugh or make a joke and Fez would just get over the top crazy angry at them, but never on Ron.
To each his own, but /u/eastsidedan aka Hosp, the gay Sean Connery was every bit as instrumental to the success of the R&F show as the 14 comedians were to O&A. Just ask him
