Why would Opie lie about eating margarine & butter sandwiches?
26 2018-06-04 by snargfursk
I would have thought that a really poor family would only have one of those things in stock at any given time.
Dunno 'bout you guys, but I think Opie's been lying about a few things.

Now that might be a lie but him interrupting the person during jury duty and saying he was super uncomfortable was totally real.

Don't forget about the Pepperidge Farm bread. You know, the bread that was more expensive than the generic store brand.
Upper middle class... the struggle is real.

The faggot has skiing in his year book along with other fairly expensive hippy bullshit. Does he not know that shits on the internet?

That's during the Depression eating, didn't he say they also sprinkled sugar on it?

Yeah. I thought it was margarine / butter wit sugar. We did that as well but not as a meal but as a snack. Other popular item was toast with butter, sugar, and cinnamon. Or toast bread and throw a slab of Government cheese in between slices.
Why no lots of talk of generic peanut butter? If you really grew up on it you’d mention WAYYYY more often than once or twice like he did. He probably got an occasional taste of that shit (it separated so easily). And NO talk of Government cheese that I can recall. We had that for years and Opie should have been around when it was out.

What did you think of government cheese? I've had people tell me it's not that bad. Was it just velveeta?
1 WiretapStudios 2018-06-04
I used to work at a grocery store, it was like Velveeta but cheaper. Eventually they just let WIC people get the actual Velveeta loaf shaped things.

I actually liked it the Government cheese. Yeah it was pretty close to Velveeta. But I think came in that huge block - if I remember about 5 lbs.

Pardon my language here, but the man is a known fibber.

In fairness, the first time he told this one, his brother was on the phone to corroborate. Butter and mayo sandwiches don’t convince me you’re poor, just that your tastes are off the wall.
