I've only ever heard of it on this sub in the context of Artie

It isn't that bad. It's about a civilian, played by Pete Holmes, who tries to break into standup. Along the way he meets real comedians who try to teach him the "craft". He at one point has nowhere to stay so he ends up "crashing" on their couches.

Seems like a terrible idea for a show. It has been explained many times that civilians could never know what is and isn't funny.

Is there a table that plays a central role in his development as an "artist "?
