With no running costs Opie's podcast probably gets pretty good numbers, will organically grow continually as it's free and Westwood One will genuinely be happy with the exposure it gets.

He will make money from it and not have to pay any associated costs and he seems stress free and happy just podcasting whenever and whereever.
Ant rents a garment factory office and pays the salaries of a team of people to stream his video podcast behind a paywall, sitting in front a gay green screen. Why the fuck did he go down that route? It just becomes more baffling every week. Just podcast from your house and pay Garrett a few hundred bucks to produce it.

You should check out this Brian Gilgore kid. He does these Bill Burr style rants.

Some Opie shill made a decent comment. Why is Anthony's podcast more expensive than Netflix? Anthony thought he was "above" everyone else in the podcast world and how money is made in that business. He is literally making less money than 14 year old kids playing games Twitch.

Thats honesty a great idea nana should do a twitch channel he would make more money and be more relevant. He would be exposed to a younger audience and many if not most would love to hate him.

And we know how much ant loves exposing himself to younger audiences

it's win, win!

Worse, it's twice as expensive as other podcast networks. Stitcher premium has 10 million shows and comedy albums and is only $4.99 a month.

I theory is he did it because he had to pay the bills so he needed money fast

One thing about the O&A world now is you never know when the tide will turn and what direction it'll go. You just know that it will turn and the result is a lot of free entertainment. This train-wreck sub should be dead but it keeps growing because of this.

Opie’s viral marketing team is working overtime on this sub lately.

If he had gone the podcast route he could have gone into nyc and interviewed people from his apartment, a "studio in the city" if you will.

Equipment...podcast...into the city...etc.

Anthony made an error in his business model to be sure and should have gone the free route supported by ads. However he also is not disciplined enough not to drive advertisers away. So he was not destined for great financial success either way.
That all being said, let’s not suck opies dick here. To attract listeners to a free podcast you still have to put out a product that’s interesting. He is putting out shit. He can no longer afford his paid friends to come in to pretend to like him for an hour and evidently has no idea how to produce a show on his own. Any money he makes on this thing will be minimal because it will be based on downloads and listens. Those are going to be small.

it's free but WestWoodOne is still paying Opie for it, they'll quickly realize whatever they're paying him is too much.
