In his mind, he doesn't have a drinking problem, isn't racist, is smarter than college-educated people, is an authority on literally every subject, is law-abiding, is white/handsome/funny/objective, and has a brother who is the "hardest working motherfucker he knows". The dropoff in Ant's ability to be funny is so insanely large that there's no fucking way I would believe it if I couldn't see it in action. It is baffling that a man who used to be funny on air almost constantly now seems completely out of place even being in front of a microphone. It's seriously bizarre and a little bit unsettling to listen to the uproarious laughter on his show while literally nothing funny is being said, especially because we know that he's aware of what makes something truly funny. He's never laughed as hard at anything Patrice, Louie or Colin said as he does at himself doing a humorless Columbo impression for the 100th time. Go ahead, say "lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eyes" again.
I'm not sure how serious people are when they call him wet-brained, and I'm not sure if it's that specifically, but there is absolutely some mental deterioration going on with Anthony. It could be that his firing just broke him. But it's probably the booze.
I actually watched part of today's show. It was terrible. I think he's on some kind of medication he was laughing so hard over nothing. At one point he was laughing hysterically at a 15 year old SNL sketch.
