I'm a little behind and finally listened to Opies show. I actually just wrote a lot of words about it and then realized that everything I was saying has surely been brought up already in much much meaner and funnier ways and deleted it. Bottom line is that was probably the saddest thing I ever heard. It was so atrocious that I officially feel terrible for the Opester and I actually hope that we are all such mean and cynical fucks that we just can't see that this show actually has mass appeal to lame dads and people in the mid west. anthony deserves people to be extremely mean to him. Jim deserves some of it as well. I'm not sure if Opie does. He's just a loser dad that is so delusional and out of touch it's actually scary. When the climax of his big debut show was him pointing out a big rock and saying they should meditate on it I wanted to vertically slit my wrists. I cannot believe what I just listened to. If he is being paid more than $100 per episode I suspect that Tim Sabean will be out of another job within 3 months. WHY DID HE BROADCAST HIMSELF PULLING UP TO THE CABIN AND ALL THE WACKY SHENANIGANS THAT CAME WOTH IT? HOW IS THAT THE WORK OF A MAN WHO RAN A HUGE RADIO SHOW FOR 20+ YEARS. WHY DOES HE THINK CHEF CARL RUIZ IS HIS NEW ANTHONY CUMIA? DOES HE NOT REALIZE THAT GUY FRIERE IS A WALKING PUNCHLINE? This is insane. God bless you Opie you sweet, clueless dope

First, Opie definitely deserves it. Second, it's abundantly clear that he has alienated everyone in his life and absolutely no talent. Carl has a better personality and better connections than Opie (pathetic as they may be) so Opie latched on in a desperate attempt to get lucky twice.

One major takeaway is that Carl actually isn't a bad guy. Probably a pretty cool hang. Definitely infinitely funnier and smarter than Opie. Why Opies hitching his wagon to him like he's a radio natural is pretty baffling but then again you guys are all saying he's desperate with no friends so that actually makes sense

Yes, he does. He was making at least a million dollars a year to let two other guys do most of the work. But his ego wouldn't let him live with the fact that he had nothing to do with his own success. So he spent years trying to destroy it by being a miserable cunt to the two guys who made him rich.
Then he gets a second chance but spends 9 out of his 12 contracted months alienating management and putting out a show that only entertained himself. He thought he could be a cool rebel like Howard shitting on the station and doing mean shit to co-workers and they just have to take it. But he missed the part where Howard was always a phenomenal success which made his bosses have to take his attitude.
And every failure is everyone else's fault. Jim, Anthony, Sam, Roland, Howard, Scott Greenstein. Always a conspiracy. So fuck him.
