I’ve exhausted all of the classic O&A and want to get into Ron & Fez

Should I just start listening to classic clips on YouTube or is there a good way to get into them since there’s a lot of inside jokes?

Start by listening to some early XM stuff then go into the later years because it's a better experience knowing the whole thing is fake

Is it all fake? I cant figure it out. How do you know for sure?

The show was like a test to see if people were even listening or paying attention. If you listen to the old shows, everything Fez does turns out to become "real." They do the Fez is silent bit then they see how far they can push it, make him a silent co-host, he's all playing along.

As pointed out before, Fez plays along with the same decade old "Homo says what" bit with the callers in the middle of a psychotic breakdown. After years of fake crying and trolling O&A into thinking it was real, Fez turns the bit around and mocks Roland for crying on air. Fez was playing a heel, even if some element of his troubles were based on reality it was greatly exaggerated, once you know the signature bits it's amazing that people still fall for it.

Fez got the last laugh as there are years worth of audio of O&A playing Ron & Fez shows and talking shit about a fake bit as if it were real, completely falling for it and Opie growling trying to analyze Fez's mind like he thinks he's an expert psychologist on mental illness. Deconstructing a radio bit he was too stupid to understand.

Sorry budday, but you're incorrect. It started off as a work, the later years of Fez's weirdness was almost all a shoot. To say otherwise as if it's an undisputible fact is silly. At the very very least it's slightly up for debate but the general consensus amongst fans is against.

The general consensus among fans before they started paying attention was that Opie was the ship steerer, so you can take your little debate and go have a tea party with it for all I care.

Explain why Fez would mock Roland for crying in such a "tee hee" wink to the audience way if he wasn't capable of that level of performance at a time of being mentally debilitated? He was perfectly fine, he was acting, you didn't get it, and you don't like that.

He always had moments of brilliance. They were a lot fewer and farther in between. Towards the end. You're latching on to one little moment out of years of radio to justify your entire dumb argument. You think you're smarter than the entire fanbase? Like it was yours and Ronnie's little inside joke. That's pathetic brothaman.

Lol, one little moment? I mentioned a few actually, and it's an inside joke between everyone on the show and the listener, and you're just upset that you thought the comedy radio show you spent years listening to was authentic real life.

Fez mocking Roland was a bit they did because of how much Fez cried, but it didn’t mean that Fez was faking it.

Fez could always do things if he was told what to do beforehand, it was having regular conversation he couldn’t do.

So you're saying Fez was told to do things before the show and they conspired to do bits?

What is this mysterious "preparation" he speaks of?

The Fez/Roland thing was something Ron did all the time. He likes to make listeners angry. For twenty minutes he tried to persuade people a Frank Ocean song that directly sampled Hotel California sounded nothing like Hotel California. For half an hour he praised Kim Kardashian’s shitty song, waiting for dumb fuck hillbillies to call in and complain.

You could always get on air if you would call in and play to the current work. Like saying people are crazy if they think the Frank Ocean song sounded anything like Hotel California.

Ron would always take your call if you would play along.

I hope youre right in that fez had self-awareness and most of his crazier moments were bits. To me, the only thing that really confirms his breakdowns were fake was the fast freddy meltdown. If that was real, i feel like he wouldve been fired. You cant even kick an intern in the balls, much less threaten to kill him.

Whether it was a work or a fluke, that's brilliant.

This is retarded. You’re like the type of person who pretends 80s rock is super deep and has a bunch of underlying messages.

I bet you'd like that, wouldn't you faggot?

Good one. This is the mind that figured out Fez’s slow 9 year demise, which ended in his being forced out, was faked, because Fez sometimes did bits.

Your mind is one that thinks because you heard voices on the radio that it was real. You're retarded and too stupid to be listening to the radio alone.

Really got to ya enough to get ya to come back 9 hours later, huh? Good life retard.

Nice Cumia response, fruitcake. Do you spend your life glued to a screen in 1 session to reply back to an argument with some wrong queer? I sure didn't.

Mhmm, yup, sure.

Awesome comeback big boi

is this a bit?

There are work elements, but it's mostly real when it comes to Fez. Don't listen to this guy. The people who say the shit is all fake have to be autistic. They obviously do not understand human emotion.

These aren't world class actors. They are radio guys. It's very easy to tell when a bit is "prepared" and when Ron is simply using Fez's mental illness for jokes.

Anyone who thinks Fez didn't have crippling anxiety and depression in real life, and was pretending for the radio night be the stupidest people you will ever run into, and you should ignore everything else they say.

Fez was actually a trained theater major in his youth. Stop babbling. The autism is believing a radio show was real.

Fez crying while delivering a Mrs fields cookie live read is an amazing piece of acting then.

You’re somewhat right, but also kind of wrong. Some was planned, some wasn’t. Things like the steak fight with Shelby and PeppyHam crying were fake as fuck, but Fez locking up started way before the silent shows and was totally real. He has mental problems and severe health issues. They were sometimes exaggerated because it was a comedy show.

Listen to some xm stuff with earl and dave, then when you get comfortable listen to their WNEW shows theyre amazing. The later shows are very strange and cringe-inducing so it depends on what you want. The earlier the show, the more light-hearted and fun it is. As the show goes on, it gets darker and darker

I enjoy anything with eastside dave and earl. The best is the impersonation of earls dead grandmother

Just move on with your life brothaman

I started with the wnew stuff. There are a lot of inside jokes that you won't get at first but it is still a great listen. As you go on, you will pick up pretty much everything. And the early xm years were great as well.

If fez's craziness was a work (I don't know) then it was masterfully crafted and played out. So masterfully that it makes me think that it couldn't have been fake. Again, I don't know, though.

The Fez teaches his cat to say cookie show is probably the closest radio will get to be some sort of modern art. Who's the idiot Fez for trying to get his cat to say cookie or you for listening to it?

Start with December 2006, then all of 2007 in order. 2007 was the best line up and the most insane shit. Gail O even dies. Can't get better. And now knowing how Dave's life eventually turns out, makes it even better.

So true! Those years are like a thick fudge ice cream cake, so tasty and delicious, every show is a gift.

Ron, Fez, Dave, Earl, and young intern Pepper Hicks will always be the best bang for your buck.

I’m currently doing that. Just started August of 2007.

What a time to be alive.

I've been getting into R&F myself and so far my choice clip would be this:

Also the reason why Ron couldn't do live reads afterward
