About 4 years ago I got laid off from a company I helped build for 7 years because I started taking every Friday off 2 months before being let go, even though I would show up at 6am and work till 3pm. I'll get shit on for this, but I think Sam does actually try, or at least did. The thing about Sam is that he just plain sucks. Whether he is trying or not, he'll never create anything good. It doesn't help either Jim gives absolutely zero effort to tell Sam his ideas are shitty, or work them into something better. But most of the shit that goes on in that show is 100% Sam. That retarded drawn-out intro, the stupid games he brought on air (like "who almost shat their pants in the bus"). Again, it's not funny at all, but the neanderthal does try in his own stupid way (same thing with interviews, Sam actually watches/reads the material getting plugged, Jim has an excuse why he couldn't every time). I won't shit on you, I agree that Sam was the one guy that really tried to make all the right moves to get his own show. He did Production for O&A and whatever else they needed in order to make a name for himself. He's the first one to get his own show, I think, from Sam & Than, to Sam & Dave, to the wrap-up show, and awful pre-show, a Friday afternoon show, and then his overnight show.

Once Jim took over the board on the Jim & Sam Show, it hightlighted both their failings. Jim is a terrible board op and lead host, Sam is a terrible co-host. It worked much better the other way around, and I always thought that Friday shows were better when Jim was out because it seemed like it was Sam's show, and he wasn't just deferring to Jim. Unfortunately, "Sam's show" mostly consists of "Let's have in wrestlers, and try bits with the interns."

The first few months they were on, I genuinely liked it. It had a good energy, they brought back the celebrity sabotage interview for a bit, or at least were making waves for not taking any shit from people like Nancy Grace. Sam was even almost tolerable, because he played off of Jim's lead.

I think after 5-6 months, they fell back into their old rhythms and used the show as their own personal hobby excelerator, and it turned into just another time clock to punch. Plus Jim not having another actual comic or proven funny person to work off of is like isolating a whale at Sea World. Jimmy comes to work with his top fin all folded over.
