How come Stern and other radio personalities haven't got fired from their job and constantly pretend to get new work? Since they always were copying Opie for their great success, sad so many broadcasters have obviously dropped the ball.
Guys, we should pretend that we don't know that he doesn't have a job and just make him keep putting up fake videos to try to convince us he'll be working for Westwood One.
I'd say we should all start calling Westwood One to demand to know when Opie's show starts, but that might actually get them interested in his sudden spike in popularity.
That'd be better than him never getting a podcast. Seal the nail in the coffin. Give him a taste of nonhumiliation then take it away. He'd never EVER work again
Honestly, his odd behavior is just cringe worthy at this point. He's acting like the weird kid in high school who badly photo shops himself into a picture with a famous celebrity and claims that they're dating.
When he was really mean and providing awkward interviews with bad guests, or setting up Anthony or Jim or one of the great comics to shine within a segment, he illustrated his broadcasting worth.
They were few, but there were a few moments where Opie was funny, boarder line charming..
Is there a thread out there with stamped examples of this already?
His doucheyness far out weighs any redeemable qualities he may have, or ever have shown in the past. The fact that he is a multi-millionaire makes that fact unacceptable.
I cannot believe he hasn't had the wherewithal to walk into Best Buy, buy about $1000 worth of podcast gear (that will last for years and give good sound quality) and started even just a basic podcast yet. At least he'd be relevant on some level and be on people's radars. Regardless of how much he's not liked around here, he still has a decent handful of fans that would check it out/probably do decent numbers, maybe Bobby would pick it up and get it some good exposure on his network.
To just sit around and wallow in obscurity like this is so childish and stupid. Fucking do something already, it's 2018, it doesn't take much.
That's what Im saying, he could find people to carry his ass just like he always has. If this guy had even a shred of motivation or creativity, he'd be off and running already.
He doesn't have any "guys". He had pay pals. Noone is going to hitch themselves to Opie w/o the exposure that Sirius was bringing. They could just do their own podcast.
He doesn't have any "guys". He had pay pals. Noone is going to hitch themselves to Opie w/o the exposure that Sirius was bringing. They could just do their own podcast.
He still has name recognition. I think he has more fans than you think. Comics would still do it for an hour, especially if it was on Bobby's network/they could just record it at his studio there.
Same could be said for Bill Cosby, and I would root for him before I would for Opie. And you’d be likely to get better results if you were one of those comics.
Doing this would force the Opster to realize how obscure he really is, in the form of a shockingly low download count. Not trying is better than trying and failing to him, Weirdfellas.
Maybe he invested well. If I could retire and have a beach house at 55 or whatever he is, I'd do it. And I make a nice living at a job I love. But if I could stop at his age and apply my energy to playing guitar, or just travel with my wife, I'm in.
Of course I'll be on Twitter talking about my jobs, real or imagined, never.
He acted like he got called for the sports show job (said he was more if a starting pitcher though), an LA deal, then somewhere in there the Tesla as a bonus, and now after a few weeks he pretty much admitted this was just stringing people along. I find some strange shit amusing, but if I had some modicum of fame, this isn't how I'd amuse myself. Especially if I were contemplating retirement.
I'm glad we're back on Opie, he's just so fun to hate. The Anthony stuff started getting little played out. Wonderful that dummy decided to do something embarrassing again to catch our attention.
I had a feeling somebody had information that this wasnt true when Jim made the comment about how Chip was completely incompetent, but could manage to do a podcast every week.

I wonder what's worse:
Opie "trolling" saying he has a job
or
Flexing your e-muscles as a moderator of a board for a radio show that hasn't been relevant in over a decade
1 LiberalPussy 2018-04-30
*was never relevant
1 GryllslyBear 2018-04-30
It was very relevant in Worcester, MA.

1 MalcolmX_InTheMiddle 2018-04-30
Then Opie ripped me off*hoo hoo*. I was doing that bit for years through the 2000's.
1 HappensHappen 2018-04-30
Opie undermines himself to win a battle against us. This is wonderful. There is no greater victory than to convince your enemy to destroy himself.

He was asked to talk about a prank he did (the Mayor prank).
Of course it bombed.
1 WaterFromTheWell 2018-04-30
It would have been smarter to go with the 100 Grand bit.
1 Nuwanda84 2018-04-30
Just because you're really into being unemployed again...just leave it alone! Seriously!

We can control his life.

We should do fake promos for Opie on Westwood one. This is the next move

Other than being dead, what would opie have had to do for you guys to like him, back when O&A was a thing?

Him setting up and pushing the slave girl bit was hilarious and resulted in a great show

He wouldn't do much worse than Anthony, plus he wouldn't have the albatross of a failing podcast network around his neck m

You are ignoring the fact that he can't actually broadcast by himself.

I'm not sure that's true.
His nose with be mushed into anything he does, whether it is shit, or not.
Alas... He probably has enough corn to do what he's doing, whatever that may be, until he dies.

This is a guy that was supposedly passionate about radio and talk radio, you'd think he'd have it in him to be active in it in some way shape or form.
1 StuffOpieThrew 2018-04-30
True. Maybe he knows he's burned his bridges.
Could it be a noncompete?
