When Colbert moved to CBS, Jordan Klepper had a flash of insight. He pedaled his fixed wheel bicycle to Comedy Central headquarters as fast as he could, running by security guards and into the head of programmings office.
"What if we do The Colbert Report, but with me."
And just like that, Jordan Klepper got a three season commitment.
He’s trying to make fun of Alex Jones but he can’t even bring up “alt-right” talking points in jest because they’ll offend his viewers, so he’s an Alex Jones parody who is way less offensive than Alex Jones. That’s always a good formula for effective satire.
Alex Jones audience is small in comparison to Comedy Centrals.
Just make fun of him. It's not like you're turning many away from Comedy Central. It's this middle of the road thinking that is anti-comedy. It's what's killed radio. It's what's killing SXM. It's what's killed Comedy Central.
I am not sure about that. Alex Jones has a HUGE following. His appearance on JRE is still the most watched one yet. Even more than super famous mainstream people like NDT. Certain shows on comedy central might have a big audience like South Park, but I highly doubt this show does.

I watched it several times. I wanted to see what each would say. That doesn't mean I'm a AJ follower. It just means the conversation would be interesting and it was.
Define "huge following"?
I agree this show sucks. I bet outside of Tosh and South Park their shows don't top the ratings that Tough Crowd got.
I believe Joe said it was had the record for the most live viewers as well, so it's not just people re watching it (which they do for other eps anyways). And I think it is a definite sign he popular, whether it is a true following or not doesn't really matter. He's extremely famous online.
I agree he's popular. I will also watch any video where he's confronting someone he doesn't agree with like him vs the Young Turks at the Repub Convention.
But as far as following. I don't think he gets 1/3rd of your average Comedy Central show.
I cringe at so many of Comedy Central's shows. They're not funny.
This is most noticeable in their commercials. Their commercials make me NOT want to watch. How bad is that when your million dollar marketing campaigns turn away people?

Does every Comedy Central show feature a smug looking guy raising one eyebrow?

But that look signals he’s politically savvy and wacky at the same time. Better not cross him.

This is nothing more than the same bullshit crap Comedy Central has been pushing over and over with different hosts. Each time it fails.
This show is the same as Larry Wilmore's.

He looks like a lesbian. Guaranteed he doesn’t eat like one.

“So Colbert isn’t funny anymore, following? And I’m not funny at all. Still following? I think it would be best if we both had a show.”

Two "not funny" cancel each other out. Don't you know this? It's why the AA Show is sweeping the nation as a comedc force right now.

I have no idea the viewership of most CC shows but I know a lot of shows get surprisingly low viewer numbers, well under 100k.

How could you call your show "The Opposition" when all of your beliefs line up almost exactly with every other political comedian and news show?
