Does anyone have a renewed appreciation for those old hack O&A bits?

Say what you will about the Sperm Bowl and 55 Gallon Drum Challenge, I'd rather listen to those then middle aged men talking about Twitter.

You don’t like “I had a woman next to me in first class that had AN EXTRA CARRY ON” Jimmy?

I'm numb

I just recently listened to the old bit where Anthony condemns Dr. Smith from Lost in Space and his pedo tendencies with young Will. Cringe worthy knowing what goes behind the McMansion...allegedly. I don’t want Mr. C to finger me for writing about it in public.

If you're not a 10 year old girl or a boy in a dress, I wouldn't worry about Anthony fingering you.

Than

He was an old producer, yes.

hundred grand

Sales guy is the "winner."

And above all else real!

I still enjoy Leonard getting fired from McDonald's

Nice but that didn’t happen, stupid

I would have liked it more if they had made it more convincing he was buying it. They basically just closed their eyes and forced themselves to react like he was. I've never been more disappointed with Patrice (until he ate himself into having a brain explosion).

We HERD YOU

55 Gallon may not have aged well, but it wasn’t hack. It was a product of its time.

The Demented World stuff was almost definitely fake, and it’s really hard to look past that.

I actually think 55g does hold up pretty well. If it were done today (for the first time) it would still be a fairly original idea with a lot of meat to it. The thing that imo makes it timeless is you're constantly wondering what's next. Everyone's more jaded now but it's still instinctual to wonder how far something's going to go. The prospect of someone completely losing their shit and trying to bang their way out and maybe bolt in horror was a good draw as well.

The main thing I miss about the early days is that when you combine regular radio with afternoons, you get all manner of freaks, messes, and street people showing up to participate in contests. With satellite the listeners have to have a) income and b) the motivation to listen to radio a lot. With mornings they have to be the type of person who gets up for things like work. Bums are big regular radio listeners because it doesn't take much ($10 headset for infinite entertainment) and they don't have tv's. Younger, loser-ish, hungover types were a lot more abundant of a demo back then.

yes, I miss the simpler times.

I wish social media was never invented. The internet should have just been video games and work/business/science stuff.

Only in the sense that I’ve discovered they’ve ALWAYS been hacky through their entire careers.

no

I’d like them to do the Wiffle Ball Bat Challenge.

With a jackhammer hooked up to it. And you on the receiving end.
