My dad is a schizo. He was living in a group home for around 15 years I think and was finally forced to go to a state institution to get his meds right again. The kicker is that the other group facility will no longer take him back (he was relatively threatening) and he can't go back to my family's house because he's unpredictable and dangerous, especially if his medication isn't being monitored.
It's a pretty fucked up disease and it only gets worse with age. I'm just happy I seem to be in the clear when it comes to inheriting it.
