I'm watching an old PFG clip and Anthony's Scorch impression is fucking gold. It seems like he doesn't really do impressions anymore or bits which might be a big part of his problem.

This clip of O&A goofing on Scorch is a classic and at about 1:40 minutes in Anthony does a Scorch impression talking about how they don't have any free pizza at the PFG TV screening and it just makes me sad that he can't be that guy anymore.

What he really needs is a producer on his show that comes up with material for bits like goofing on PFG or doing a Bobo wackpack bit or bringing in someone like East Side Dave to play "Guess What's in my Ass?". Anthony needs events and infrastructure around him for things like a Super Show or something to get people excited about the show. Right now it's just all the same flatline, listless rambling.

Are ya?!

Niggers need structure. That’s why most of them like being in prison.

At some point he decided it was better to be interesting than to be funny. Unfortunately, by the time he realized that a high school dropout could only be interesting for a couple of months, he had forgotten how to be funny.

And then realizing this, he became bitter, which made him even less funny, and certainly a lot less interesting.

"I'm still hilarious"

Yes, but never intentionally, and only in pathetic ways.

you pretty much nailed it right there.

The first half also describes Jimmy. I wonder if he will become bitter eventually. It may be happening now because it seems like he doesn't respect a lot of the newer comics like Big Jay and Nick Mullen. What do you think?

I think Jimmy would become bitter faster if he wasn't so obsessed with his own homosexuality and keeping it under wraps. Yes, that part does apply to him well, although some of that is apparent in all comics, eventually they become bitter old cunts that complain about the younger generation.

To be fair though, at least Jim and Anthony were interesting WHEN they were funny. Now, they are neither. But Opie Roberts and Opie Hughes were never either of the above, and that's why I actively hate them more than Jim and Ant.

Two had a historic fall from grace, the other two never had any grace to fall from.

All of the interesting shit he knows anyone could pick up from watching a few history channel documentaries. He was never that smart, just a lot smarter than the ignorant dopes he worked with.

He was doing some bits and impressions when he first started his show.

I sent this clip to some conspiracy minded Jesse Ventura fan that had no idea who O&A were and they loved it. Said they ended up watching it like 4 times.

So yeah, you're right.

It's like when Howard was great ten plus years ago with the Howard 100 news and Richard and Sal and Eric the Midget and on and on. It's about the world around the show. The interaction and ecosystem is part of what pulls in daily listeners.

I watched three minutes the 6:30 clip. It was an autistic caller complaining about his packages not being delivered..

Riveting.

That's the bit, stupid.

You should have finished the clip, the visual makes it pretty funny.

Ah. Maybe. If I remember tomorrow

I really despise Ant these days, but I've been listening to a lot of old clips lately and I love the guy I'm hearing. It really feels like the old Anthony is a different person. Trashing him is fun and he really is a scummy person in a lot of ways, but if he could go back to being as funny and entertaining as he was in his prime I wouldn't give a shit about anything else.

There are too many problems with Ant, his show, and his performance to count. The biggest one seems to me to be that he's literally always uncomfortable. Anxious, awkward, whatever it is. Artie has been horrifically unfunny on Ant's show, and current Ant would never give him a car crash or trash him for bombing. Even worse - he's scared to not hysterically laugh at every single one of his jokes. The "HAHA HOLY SHIT" is annoying, but the worst thing about his weird anxiety is that it's absolutely crippled his sense of humor. He just seems too unfocused to be able to come up with a joke about anything. He wasn't always like that on TACS - something broke him at some point, or maybe it was a delayed reaction to his firing.

I think the thing that cracked him was when Obama started getting closer to being elected and then finally became president. Obama president Naw!

his weird anxiety is that it's absolutely crippled his sense of humor. He just seems too unfocused to be able to come up with a joke

I blame the camera and the bright studio. It's the totally opposite environment than the dark laid back studio at XM where the cameras only came on for interesting moments... which is what youtube is for.

Patrice dying fucked everything up

Anthony was never good about calling out unfunny shit on TACS even from when it first started. As soon as he got fired and started up his podcast he revered to "happy to be there guy" mode, probably triggered by flashbacks to his Air Conditioning days and having to shit in a bucket in a van again. A similar shift happened in Sam and Jim too. They went from bashing unfunny jokes and making shitty guests uncomfortable for a laff to being as safe and drama-free as possible. They're just all glad to be working

He does impressions of things that haven't been relevant for 20+ years

He needed da money! Oh!

He does impressions every aa show

That's interesting I just never really watch / listen unless it's a noteworthy clip that gets posted here. Huh.

What he needs to do is retire. Take whatever money he has left and sell his home and move somewhere warm with a low cost of living. Pull a Fez and move on with his life.

He had a drunken mental breakdown (in my unprofessional opinion) that night in 2014 and never recovered. His drinking is only getting worse. A few years ago I would have said “maybe he can turn this around" He’s had four years to build a new career and has failed utterly.

He’s lucky. If a normal person had a breakdown and became unable to do their job, they’d be in the poorhouse. Ant needs to realize he has to husband his resources, stop funneling money into his awful show that only a few dozen people watch, and just retire.

Yeah it really is just the drinking. He's a proper cautionary tale

There's one time when Ant just said "Come on, asshole" in Scorch's voice, and it had me laughing for way longer than it should have.

It was the "Jack Sub-Parr" clip.

He should have taken the impressions and voices more seriously back in the day so he could have become a voice actor like Billy West did.

Opie ruins every couple minutes with constant sound board clips.. you can tell everyone is uncomfortable in the studio when he starts just hitting buttons.. Jimmy waits for them to stop for a couple seconds before he talks.

The alcohol and Xanax induced tics that Ant displays now are the funniest things he’s done in years. And it’s effortless! Love his Ant...tics.

Someone put many peckahs in my mouth.

What's next now that he's having the tics? Like full on seizure? Is he already having DTs?

His problem is he can’t set aside his politics anymore. It used to be so funny when he’d go on a racist rant or political rant every once in a while, but now it’s his entire platform. I bet if it was illegal to talk about anything political, ol crater face would be as quiet as his career’s going to be in a year

I'm listening to Anthony Cumia 100 impressions and straight off it's fucking hilarious. This type of stuff needs to come back. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hki0DGCZeF0
