It really is as lazy as it gets. It's worse than Adam Carolla's books, where he hires a guy to transcribe his most overstated rants into a book, and people are dumb enough to buy it.
Florentine's non "Dumb License Plates, Part 197" podcast episodes are relatively fun to listen to, the rare times he does them. I wish he actually tried.
His "Random Rants" ones are usually okay, but I think the last one was mostly Superbowl shit so I skipped it. I like Jim if he's on anyone else's podcast too, he did a tour for this book and had a decent appearance on Joey Diaz's show.
As much as he bugs me with some of his lazy shit, I cant help but love the guy because if you ever meet him he's so fucking nice. He'll stand there and talk to you for 10 minutes, and you can see he legit appreciates you as a fan. Unlike Norton, who you have a 30 second window with before he starts scanning the room for potential groupies or trannies, and moves on.
Without the title, you could have shown me this and I would have automatically assume this was a Joseph "Leech" Cumia that was obviously run through spell check.
Does Florentine have material, or is his gimmick to just complain about everything and everyone?
Even that excerpt reads perfectly in his voice, and pretty much sums up everything I've ever heard of Florentine on O&A, Bennington, or the XM comedy channels.
If you make it your life's work to be a comedian, isn't it at least a requisite to be funnier than the average person? Or capable of at least highlighting something humorous that you wouldn't otherwise think of? I know that there can be hacks in any industry, but if you get into something involved in arts, isn't it based around a fundamental talent?
This literally reads like some contrarian 15 year old Slipknot fan who thinks everything sucks and uses awful "yeah that's GREAT...NOT"-type sarcasm... but doesn't have anything to add beyond that. The absolute lack of self-awareness to put something like this out for publishing is crazy.

So it's basically a physical Facebook? Why is he responding to FB posts in his book like anyone cares? This isn't even funny or insightful

Any examples? Everything I've heard from his podcast has been shockingly bad. It would be interesting to hear him do something decent.
