just wondering why? I mean I have my personal reasons as a fan and follower of the show since 2000, but there's not the level of vitriol that exists here solely as a meme.

i would honestly love to hear one salient point on why Opie sucks that has nothing to do with subreddit memery.

Here's one of many reasons why I dislike him now. He went from being 'edgy' (which was his single entertaining point for years) to being some sort of pop-culture obsessed, award show watching, meme-bearded Todd Pettingill.

i dont hate him because it gives me some fucking faggot cache or points, which looking at your posts, seems to be your only reason for existence on this board. Look at this meme post for example....

I come here to laugh and hopefully make a few other people laugh every now and again. Do I mean half the shit I say here, of course not. I also don't take any of this nonsense out into the "real world" outside of this sub. I actually used to like these guys and probably still would if I didn't come here and read and see what they have become. I had no idea Opie sucked for the 15+ years of listening to him until it was pointed out here and because of that you people have destroyed almost the whole O&A back catalog for me. Thank God for Ron and Fez. If you have any other questions please let me know.

yeah opie bugs me. his forced laughs, his forced catchphrases, 'give yourself a bell', the primadonna shit....i mean there's a ton to hate.

conversely theres a lot i do like about stupid ass opie. his Aspergers-fueled interactions with management, fans and guests i enjoy. his ability to do a radio show without just doing a 4 hour monologue about [rant of day]. opie mixed it up, the stalker patty bits, any bits that degraded people are in opies high light real. he's a fucking shitbag yeah, but whatever, if he gets a new show ill listen to it until it sucks.

I know that there are a lot of european fans on here who are obviously new fans. most of the new fans are younger people who find the show via the comedians. they dont have a history with the show. they're fucking bandwagoners who just say shit for reddit points. they dont get theres no show without opie.

They see opie hate and just join in like its the thing to do, without themselves having a personal justification for doing so. They only sole reason being that here at Reddit, if you dont hivemind/groupthink then you're not welcome. for some this is their only social interaction so i get the need to "fit in"

i come here to see what these shits are on about and thats usually about it as if you say anything thats contrary to the circlejerk around here they just vote you down until your comments are hidden.

just sayin, opies not as bad as people say. ask people exactly why they hate him and see if they give you an articulate non-meme answer. you'll find they cant and its all just a fucking meme.
