Ok, what are your favorite (and least favorite) Song of Ice and Fire theories?

Least favorite? There was a guy who claimed on r/ASOIAF that the conflict with the Others is going to be a misunderstanding, and that the others are simply a symbolic representation of "the other)" in society. If that happens, I will throw those books into the wall.

I am also not fond of the "Tyrion is actually the Mad King's son" theory. There is in fact a bit of evidence for this one (nothing overwhelming), but the story is more compelling to me that Tyrion is Tywin's actual son who has simply been rejected. Oh, and don't try to tell this to the people in r/ASOIAF, or prepare to barraged with "wow, r/ASOIAF showing its hatred for adoption again. Don't you guys realize that adopted kids often take on their new parents personalities?" (This is an actual thing I have seen there several times).

On the other hand (although I don't know how much evidence there is for it), the idea that Cersei and Jaime, who are seemingly Tywin's more loved children, are actually Aerys' is an interesting thought.

Might be, though. GRRM is a huge hippie. More likely there's some common foe manipulating all sides to fight each other. Likely some hive-mind, like the children/weirwood-net.

I know that in some of his short stories he has had telepathy and mysterious, misunderstood creatures (i.e. children of the forest) figure prominently. The show has already confirmed that the children made the Others to fight us (assuming that this is not a change from future books). I just feel that there has been too much time invested in the Others as malevolently intentioned for there to be some sort of misunderstanding. Not to say I would be mad if they were given more backround or reasoning for their actions.
