Honest question about Artie

I've listened to a few old stern clips when Artie was supposed to be in his prime, but I didn't find him as funny as people made him out to be. Was he ever legitimately funny?

good storyteller but not a great standup. He's a good second or third mic.

His first special, it's the whiskey talking, is fucking hilarious. Everything other special after that, garbage

“Jack & coke” was good too. I think anything pre stabbing and bleaching is good

He was absolutely hilarious back then. I'm not sure what you listened to, but he was genius during those days.

I laughed when he fought with the staff

Nowhere near as funny as Jackie, but good off the cuff and decent with stories. Also the Artie years were transition years with Stern, so he gets credit for being Stern's ice breaker when Stern wouldn't being something up.

He had a great laugh, told great stories, and he was good at causing confrontation when wackpackers called in (Angry Alice and Eric The Midget for sure)

him berating the stupid porn girl was funny

Yes - and he knew when to be quiet and sometimes nod off.

01-06 Artie was funny on the Stern Show. Once the H started to take hold of him in 06 he became less and less funny. Problem is all the funny "new" stories he told back then have been repeated a million times and seem very stale now. His stand up has always sucked though.

Artie was funny back then (altho' I've never heard anything hilarious), I'm not sure H was the biggest issue... they allowed him to play the 'H-addict' persona, & let the funny diminish.

Is it me but Artie on A&A seems to be the longest epitaph of Artie being on Howard's show. He won't stop yapping about him being on the show. Like anybody cares now

Artie is like a funny guy you run into.

One of my favorite Artie moments was him making fun of High Pitch Mike for going to Disney by himself. Artie HighPitch Mike and also he was always good VS. Eric the midget
