if you listen to him to talk to comedians, you might wrongly assume it makes for a humorous conversation, but Joe does everything in his power to dictate the topic and make sure it’s nothing but an over-analytical, boring, sanctimonious conversation about the medium.
Then you watch his act and despite his authority and wisdom on the craft, it’s complete trash. It’s forced energy and totally contrived bits that don’t feel natural or fluid at all. It seems to always boil down to a grown man making loud animal sounds into a microphone. Snarling and growling like a little kid pretending to be a lion. But he knows martial arts so no one will ever mock him for this.
