...was hailed by the Daily Beast as "a love letter to every black person" and "a correction for years of diversity neglect" by Rolling Stone.

Excuse me, but did we forget about Soul Plane?

"a love letter to every black person"

...from white people. I'l let Tyler Perry know all his movies were meaningless. This is apparently the first black movie.

i mean, technically speaking, Tyler Perry movies are worthless

Still, mainstream movies that keep having theatrical releases year after year, but those are made by a black man, so they don't count. It's only social progress if white people make a black movie.

I was going to say Car Wash and Big Momma’s House 2

Poor Luke Cage didnt get any love probably because he fucked white chicks.

fucked white chicks

sweet christmas

It's a fucking comic book movie. No comic book movie deserves a 100% rating, the pandering isn't even being disguised anymore, it's just blatant now.

Absent criticism, everything is perfect.

The best part is that the African superhero was created by 2 white guys back in the 60s.

It is fucking crazy that they can have a major super hero named after the most visibly racist militant black organization in American history and no one mentions it. It's like if Marvel put out a movie called Klansman.

Well I mean it's the name of the comic book the movie is based on so everything you just said is wrong.

It's really not anything like that.

Explain how it's different then.

The the character was in development since '65, made first appearance in July '66.

Black Panther Party started in at the end of '66.

Marvel actually changed the character's name for a while so people would t get them confused, then changed it back like 15 years later.

Thank you for this information. Though my parallels don't add up, I still find the overall vibe disconcerting.
