They need the straight guy/ship steerer otherwise their show derails into a spiral of unfunny awkwardness. Opie may have been an unfunny faggot, but he at least was a needed dynamic so Ant and Jimmy didnt need to focus on filler content, they could just get out the punchlines. And now they’re both acting like they can do this radio thing without him. Well ua cant, cunts. Go get Opie you narcissist faggots.

This has been my observation too. Opie was the structure of what made the show so great. He wasn't funny himself but he set others in a position to be funny.

Ive worked in a lot of kitchens with burnouts and students, and having one cunty manager really congealed the staff.

The cliche of Opie being the shows rudder was correct. The shows without Opie were definitely different and fun. Until you have consecutive shows like that and you realize what it devolves down into.

I don't understand how people still try to pretend Opie offered anything to the O&A on-air product. Listen to any Nopie show and you can immediately tell the difference in atmosphere, no calls every 10 seconds, no boring fucking news articles and no soul crushing anti-humour that Greg oozed. And most of all the fact that Jim, Ant and other comedians didn't have to placate that whining cunt when he got his feelings hurt. He not only added nothing but he took joy away from the listening experience, he had no upsides whatsoever and seemed to be a genuine nightmare to work with.
