I grew up in North London. There aren't many Jewish people in the UK but most of them live in certain areas of North London. I went to school with them, were friends with a lot of them, good friends with a few of them. I respect them, to be honest. Most cases, despite racist propaganda, what you see is what you get. They want to do well and be self-sufficient.
Worked in finance for most of my adult life, the reality is they respect smarts and success.
The Jews that I've met despise one thing above anything. A fellow Jew who has no interest in academics and/or isn't business savvy. They'll forgive a goyim of these transgressions. A fellow Jew? No way. Such people are beneath contempt.
Poor Rich. The tattoos certainly don't help his case.
I grew up in the NYC suburbs and completely concur. The neighboring rich town we shared a high school with was half Jews, mostly reform, and you knew what you were getting with them. Also, even the Jews with seemingly dumb parents lived in houses full of books and opera records etc. And as you say, they hold one another to high standards—it’s part of that whole tribe mentality.
Colin Quinn sums up Jews brilliantly in a chapter in his book. It’s hilarious and he makes some great points.

And yes, they weren't even particularly religious. Their god was education, business and success. I respect that, to be honest.
