I look at the studio someone like h3h3 uses and it makes Tranpa's gaudy mess look ridiculous. The room is small, and the lighting is dim instead of the sterile lightning needed to make Ant's 1991 green screen clip art look passable.
Everybody looks so fucking uncomfortable on Ant's show. They're sitting on barstools or cheap swivel chairs behind his retarded desk. If he had some couches, a nice table and softer lighting, I think people would be able to relax and just be funny. Instead of constantly looking like they want to kill themselves.

Cumia has FLAT lighting. I think it's deliberate. Tranth's crater face horror is much less obvious than on other shows he's on that have better lighting

I think just getting rid of the green screen and dimming the light a bit would help. It's no shocker everyone looks pissed and uncomfortable. There is a reason Ian McKellen had a break down filming the hobbit movies.

I don't know how conducive talking while surrounded by a green screen would be, it'd probably feel artificial. Ant knows it's shit, he's been told hundreds of times (if not thousands), but like I said, it's too late for him to change it. He'd have to admit that a very large role of his podcast dreams was stupid and that all the money he sunk into it was a waste.

You're right that he won't admit he's wrong. But it's just embarrassing. I think he was going for a customized look for individual shows, but it end up look incredibly amateurish. Especially when the background look as weird an ugly as they do.
It would have been much better to simply have a real background with a Compound Media and a few flat screens with the logos of specific presenters.

That "set" is definately super cramped.
A little perspective illusion and it doesn't immediately look like they're on top of each other, but they are.
The most uncomfortable I've seen guests is when the "reunion" show happened with Jim, Sam & Travis. Nobody seemed to know where to rest their arms without banging into each other, constantly shifting in the chairs trying to get comfortable, etc., etc.
The kicker was when ESD had that "fight" with his "producer" and that cheap plywood & Elmer's glue desk just fell apart with the signage flatscreen smacking face-down onto the floor.

A primarily audio podcast would have been a million times better. You can still video it and put it up but without the nervous fucking mugging directly to camera. Ad supported rather than subscription based would have made it bigger too, especially in the wake of his firing, with at least a chance to grow its audience.
