It's permissible to take the week when your parent dies, even if their mind had long since expired. He probably felt pressured to boost the brand after the holiday vacation, when it took a hit prior to it with Artie going off the reservation. People speculated if ol' pissy eyes returned after he heard the news of his mom's passing. From the looks of it, he's suppressed all emotion and is probably downing handfuls of antidepressants. On radio he was such a natural and easygoing presence; on his own platform he's just become a grotesque collection of tics and crutches. It was refreshing to hear his tenor slightly shift at certain points when he dropped the "overeager jovial broadcaster" shtick and spoke like a regular human about having a rough week.
His unrelentingly reliance on speaking like this through the entirety of his TACS/Compound Media post legitimate career really solidifies why he has no business hosting a show by himself.
He CAN be hilarious when having somebody like Jimmy to play off. Left to his own devices, he disappears down the political rabbit hole and all the funny ceases.
