Not to me. To me it seems like Ron expects Anthony to stay in his miserable unfunny state or worse until he's dead, but he's still willing to put some effort in to try to get him to change. It almost certainly won't happen, but Ron is probably the only person in his life who has even attempted to get him back on the right track. Ant is surrounded by yes-men because he likes it that way, and everyone else who might be able to have some impact, including Jim, is unwilling to say anything about it.
