Where we at with "Mother!"

Just watched it and it could be the worst movie I have seen all year. Although I hate Jennifer Lawrence so maybe that didn't help.

I liked it. The most misanthropic movie of the year, so it's a positive for me.

Have you seen We Are The Flesh (limited release this year)?
After the end of the world, a young brother and sister roam an apocalyptic city looking for food and shelter. They take refuge in the dilapidated lair of a strange hermit who makes them a dangerous offer to survive. He puts them to work building a bizarre cavernous structure, where he acts out his insane and depraved fantasies. Trapped in a maddening womb-like world under his malign influence, they find themselves sinking into the realms of dark and forbidden behavior.
It's fucking crazy. It's essentially porn with full on penetration, which I haven't seen that since Gaspar Noe's Love. Is it better than mother! ? I thought so. Is it social commentary or pretentious art? I honestly don't know.

Haven't seen it, but it sounds like the bio-picture of someone that would post on this sub.

Needed more Ed Harris. Probably the only redeeming quality of that piece of shat.

i loved it, but I admittedly love absurdly weird and fucked up films.

I thought subtlety was a virtue in art but apparently its better to ram your metaphors up the viewers ass using a 2nd hand film school textbook as a hammer

I like Aronofsky but this was pretentious, self-indulgent dreck. And it was fucking boring.

Are you suggesting it be kept in the dark for life?

Dude, it was outrageously good. When she gets her ass beat was a highlight. Then there the baby eating! The end sucked, but overall, not bayud

I liked it. I like Aronofky a lot. I thought the first half was compelling and the last 20 minutes was fucking awesome visually. Also a pretty cool allegory. After reading the full explanation of everything I definitely appreciated it more. Wasn't my favorite but could certainly be somewhere in my top 10-15

I enjoyed when RLM trashed it. And that's about it.

I thought it looked terrible but would have given it a chance. Thought Guillermo del toros last movie looked similarly fucking terrible but didn't see that either.
