Look at what has become of Anthony and Jim WITHOUT Opie.
Anthony does a two hour show 4 times a week and it's the same tired material he's been doing for twenty years. "Blacks are violent and I have the statistics to back it up!" WE HEARD YOU Then Anthony decides to bring in a co-host. In his infinite wisdom who does he pick? A 50-something drug addict that went into I-DONT-GIVE-A-FUCK Mode with the largest radio show in the world. Now Ant acts surprised when that co-host starts to exhibit the same behavior with him and his shitty podcast that 30 people listen to.
Jimmy is more or less the same kind of host as he was on O&A: a third mic, and he will never be anything more than a third mic. I'm not sure we would ever want him to be anything more. Look at the decisions he makes when he is in control. He either brings in some random tranny he wants to fuck, some washed up porn actress he wants to fuck, or some MMA meathead he wants to fuck. All terrible guests. Then when the audience complains, he ignores them because he doesn't care about doing a show people want to hear, he only wants to do a show to get laid. But he can't even do that right.
I agree with a lot of the Opie gate. As an on-air personality and human being, Opie is awful. But without him there would have been no O&A show. Anthony would still be married and probably broke from paying 20-year olds to bang him. Jimmy's life would basically be the same, spending nights edging to tranny porn and acting holier-than-thou because he kicked drugs and alcohol 40 years ago, the only difference is that he would be poor.
So go on, hate Opie, he sucks. But don't pretend that Anthony and Jimmy would have gone on to create an amazing radio show without him. They wouldn't've.

He was better than Sam in every way. People that liked Sam shit stirring are stupid. Sam asks obvious questions during arguments that Opie usually started. Tons of fights started with Opie asking why Erock was late or not doing work.

I would argue Sam is better. Mostly because there's not nearly as much drama associated with Sam. Sam is also still relatively young, so he could still go on to do something great. Though, he's pushing 40 now, time is running out and he better hurry the fuck up.

Well, that's kinda the point. That's what was entertaining. Opie is an asshole, always were an asshole and needed to be an asshole for the radio-show to be entertaining. All these fruits wants now is to be nice and be friends. There's no attitude anymore.

You're acting like J&S and Anthony are periscoping themselves from Applebees while the Opieradio juggernaut powers on.....Jim, Sam, and Anthony would be a pretty fantastic show. It's also a different era where they can't do 75% of the crazy shit that they used to. Of course the 90s and early 00s were better. This was the age of shock jockery, hardcore gangster rap, nu metal, the rise of South Park, and the attitude era in wrestling. It was basically paradise for white trash men like ourselves. Times have changed muh dude, this medium will never come close to being as fun as it was

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was also a teenager. But I'm pretty sure I would still enjoy it more than Jim talking about having a "girl"friend and Anthony reciting race statistics. Plus it wasn't just the whore stuff, they had many funny bits that would be hilarious and even more shocking today

Yeah for the most part I didn't mind those. The main reason they don't hold up is the presence of Opie. If a re-formed A & J show were to do them, I agree they'd still be good, and it's mainly because Opie wouldn't be around to act soooo naughty and sinister. He's what ruins those shows now listening back.

Those were on O&A with the same frequency. If it seems like it's more, it's only because Mary Jean is so awful she's way more noticeable, and that awfulness sticks in your head for longer.

I think Opie contributed a lot to the old show. If it were just Ant and Jim, it would have been what you see now: two meandering zilches just talking about the past and relationships. As much as they hate on Opie for going to the phones, the results of those calls were sometimes the best parts of the show because the callers often got slammed. “We heard you!”, Mean Jimmy, and the silence followed by a car crash and boo sounds with Jimmy laughing hysterically when a caller bombed added to the show. And Opie did keep the show moving with topic after topic. Look at all the news story compilations - every single one of em came from Opie starting them off. Then the funny people would riff and thats the show. Sam is trying to fill in the Opie role but hes so fucking bad at it.
