The real enemy of the internet is local governments limiting ISPs in their area, therefore killing competition and creating monopolies. I'd like to see competition in the market at a local level before allowing the federal government control of the internet. That won't end well.
No, it isn't. There are no local governments limiting ISPs in their area. None. The reason you don't see competition in local markets is because it is insanely expensive to install the infrastructure to become an ISP in a local market, especially a rural one.
