What do you think would have happened if Stanhope got the Artie chair?

He also tried out for the win Jackie’s money competition but lost. He wouldn’t have gotten fired for trying to kill himself so I wonder how Howard would have got rid of him so he could do Ed Sheeran interviews now.

He'd never last coming in hung over at 5am every morning.

I don’t know man, Doug is a better stand up than Artie and that promotion was unparalleled so Doug would have been making money hand over fist on the road. What do you think would have happened to Artie?

Of course he's better. But he rarely even comes to New York for gigs because he hates it. He'd go crazy living there. He also doesn't care about money. If he wanted to be a big star he could be by toning it down, playing the fame game and being higher profile. He's happy where he's at as a cult favorite who can do what he wants.

You kind of ruined the bit by being 100% right. sniff

Isn't there a Howie sub for you guys?

How do Artie and Doug not count as being relevant to this board?

It wouldn’t have worked for either. He was too good for that chair. Stanhope was too dominant of a personality and too irreverent and talented to be restricted by that role. Howard would not have gone for that. Artie made more sense for what Howard envisions for that role. He never wanted anyone equal or superior who could potentially push him to sidekick on his own show.

Artie wouldn't be on the cusp of death as he wouldn't have ever made the cash to support a longtime coke & heroin habit
