Anthony's a terrible person with an even worse vlog "network", but it's pretty clear that the "on assignment" thing is a joke.
He even does his trademark, "Uh... uh..." pause before he slowly and deliberately delivers the comedy payload of "...on assignment", much the same way he used to say things like, "uh... uh... back in the day", or "this uh... uh... business they call show."

The standards have gotten so low that Sam is allowed to make fun of people now without being stomped out right away by Jim or Ant.
