Read as: "I fucked up with hiring a drug addict and I'm also shit at writing up contracts so we can't fire this dude while he's in treatment so I'll spin it like we're doing it out of kindness"
Why the fuck would you even write that? If you really do something because it's the "right thing", you just do it without having to tell everyone. It's like when Opie used to say "I'm a great business man, I'm smart" when it came to contract negotiations.
It made financial sense. I signed up because of Artie.
Truth be told, Artie could die tomorrow and Anthony would still be ahead of the game compared to never having the man. Audiences are sticky in radio/podcasts.
I'm also pulling for the Bobo and David Show on CM.
"Artie will be addressing his health issues in the hospital, followed up by an inpatient rehab. He has to return to court in late February for sentencing."
That's why I liked his books so much, they were all kinda focused on him getting clean, and then as soon as they roll out he's high as fuck again. He was high on Conan promoting his book about not getting high anymore. The third one is supposidly finished but it seems like he already has enough material for book four. Maybe he can write it in jail, like Hitler.
Standing by him is the only choice, either way Artie ends up going it's great for them. If he dies, they'll get pub, if he cleans up theyll get pub and maybe an Opie-esque "Go get 'em Art" tweet for Howie or someone from that show on his return.
If they're smart, their contract with Artie will only pay him per-show. If he doesn't turn up they don't have to pay him, meaning they get to pocket the extra cash they charged subscribers for bringing him onboard. Plus, they can publicly come out and "stand by him" for zero effort or money.
I dont c Artie coming back After he completes Rehab he still Has to be Sentenced if he gets jail time what r they going to do????Wait Years for Artie to be released??? They need to find a new Cohost....Noone is going to wait that long for Artie
It's kinda fucked how he gets conditional rehab in a plea deal. Few ppl in Hollywood, or life, have gotten more chances than this guy.
He's not even that funny....hes 50, and gets treated like a child. Essex county DA said "were trying to save his life".....sure that's the same approach other people got who were caught with 8-pks of H, and 2g of coke.
Honestly - the court system is taking these types of stances on possession cases now.
Known user with history of overdoses (and no history of dealing) will get rehab crammed down his throat. The system does not want to jail these people for use.
Whether you agree with it or not, it’s a consequence for decriminalizing offenses. The system is basically saying “Ok - they’re users, not dealers. Let’s just clean them up.”
Artie will get 100 chances. And he will still die from a fucking overdose. He’ll never learn.
That's actually welcomed news...non violent drug users sentenced jail time for possession is probably a great start to becoming a real, violent criminal who drains society of resources.
2 part follow-up question u/TheConsumer
1) do u find this approach of substituting jail with rehab for users will be at a lower cost for taxpayers & the welfare of society?
2) As an Attorney in the NY metro area....what in the fucking fuck are you doing here, you ill-begotten son of a bitch?
I legitimately liked the show with Artie on it. Yeah, he repeated his stories often. But, he was funny and did change the vibe of the show. I also think he brought in better guests.
I also don’t see Artie ever “recovering.” He’ll do his rehab, get out, stay clean for a month and OD. The older he gets, the more likely it is that he’ll kill himself with one of those ODs.
I hate everyone says that Artie has a big heart and thay we is so nice. Fuck him he is not. He has completely fucked over Ant and Artie only cares about Artie. He should be so greatful thay Ant gave him such a great job but what fpes he do he disrespects Ant everyday

Did Artie accept Dominic's rehab/vacation offer?

Ouch.

Would bekind of funny if he came back, thinner, tanned, rested, sober and then got 16 months in the slammer.
1 AppleFan79 2017-12-16
Whatever the fuck he does in "rehab", he'll be right back to snorting in less than two weeks.
1 TossyMcSalad 2017-12-16
He'll have his connections in the inside...
1 AppleFan79 2017-12-16
Of course!

Funny you say that.
Isn't it, ahhhh, "advantageous" that all of this stuff is going on with him now ....
When he's got a new book coming out in a couple of months.
1 lelgimps 2017-12-16
He won't do time. Sadly, that would be the best thing for him.
1 68rouge 2017-12-16
His career is over. His stand up isnt strong enough for to be away for 3 months. Judge will not be light with him
1 Sternacthegreat 2017-12-16
Or imagine he can't work with noted bad influence Anthony Cumia as one of the conditions of his sentencing.
1 LaurenDoingChin-Ups 2017-12-16
Handsome Artie!

All the publicity from his arrest has been as "Ex-Howard Stern side-kick". I haven't seen AA mentioned once.
1 AppleFan79 2017-12-16
Seen what mentioned once?
1 TossyMcSalad 2017-12-16
It's essentially assumed, that Artie's rehab will be a 12 step program...
1 MoeGreenVegas 2017-12-16
He will have trouble catching his breath after 3 of them.

1 PhilipMarma 2017-12-16
They're not smart though. So they probably paid him up front for a year.
1 _TheConsumer_ 2017-12-16
Didn’t Artie say he gets paid $4k per episode? If so, that leads me to believe that it’s performance based.
If I were making a deal with a guy who can’t stay clean for more than 2 months at a time, that’s the way I’d structure it.
1 68rouge 2017-12-16
Artie has not done one show clean. Nobody cam be funny in withdrawals
1 peckaface 2017-12-16
Artie didn't change for Howard, what on earth makes KtC think he would change for Ant?
1 jjoharanyc1 2017-12-16
Maybe Artie should change for himself and his family.
-Takes it too seriously guy.

Notice how he said "controlled substance" so Ant doesn't have to feel bad about his alcoholism.

Source - Attorney in NYC
1 68rouge 2017-12-16
I guess they just let people like this die off
1 ppeachy 2017-12-16
But he's already a felon and this was jersey where they are much harder on people than in NYC,no?
1 _TheConsumer_ 2017-12-16
Yeah, he’s a felon. But he’s a junkie most of all. Courts take pity on people like that. All of his legal problems revolve around drugs.
I’ll say that if he messes up with rehab, the Court might throw the book at him.
